Finally, for this Wednesday, we are featuring our bonded pair of shy guys, Sassy and Swagger. These boys are just over a year old and would do fine as indoor/outdoor kitties after a long adjustment period to give them time to bond with their new person and home. Today we want to let you know about a terrific dog who is currently in Tonasket, living with his current owner until an adopter can be found. We have sponsored this handsome boy on our Home to Home adoption page, in hopes he will be able to avoid a trip to a shelter or rescue.

Asher is a neutered wirehaired German shorthaired pointer mix who is good with kids, cats, and other dogs! He is crate trained and owner states he will come with his crate.

Today's DESPERATE plea is for KITTEN FOSTERS (stock photo, not the actual kittens in need).

Forget Me Not is beginning assistance to a semi-feral colony with over 100 CATS AND KITTENS. !!! Yes you read that correctly.

While Trap-Neuter-Return, with some ongoing food support from Forget Me Not, will work for many of the more feral adults in this colony, there are kittens there ranging from newborns to already eating on their own, and they need OUT of this situation ASAP.

Unfortunately, with our limited physical space at the shelter already filled and our current foster homes also already filled, we have nowhere to put these kittens in need (we even have cats living in the shelter office and kitchen area right now).

That is where YOU come in! EVEN OUT OF THE AREA - we will pay the higher medical costs for vetting these kittens in Seattle and Spokane area foster homes, if it means they will be safe and out of this dangerous situation.

We recommend having an extra room or cozy outbuilding you can dedicate to your group of kittens, as most will likely have mild to moderate upper respiratory infections. We will begin treatment with vaccines and antibiotics prior to moving kittens to foster, and then you will be asked to keep up with the antibiotic and vaccine schedule at shelter's expense. We provide food, litter, litterboxes, bedding - whatever you need to give kittens a safe temporary home.

Please let us know if you can help, and what ages (from bottle feeding to friendly independents up to 12 weeks of age) you could handle. Thank you for helping us help them!

PUPPY FOSTERS WANTED! Forget Me Not has a litter of 6 week old Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix pups scheduled for intake this coming week, and would love to foster some out in pairs to help them get the best start in life.

Approximate foster dates would be 7/17 until possibly 8/9; we provide food and supplies, you provide love, socialization, and p**p patrol (ha).

If you are within easy driving distance of the shelter (for spay/neuter appointment, possible photo session, and/or meet-and-greet appts) and would like to provide a helping paw for 3 weeks or so, please message us or email [email protected] or call 509-775-2308 (leave a message). We'd love to sign you up as a foster home!

One more fun announcement for today! Forget Me Not has joined the Embark shelter program, which offers a discount to our adopters and supporters, PLUS helps us earn free or reduced cost DNA tests for our shelter dogs!

Sometimes knowing a dog's actual breed mix can make a HUGE difference in helping them find their forever home. While we won't ever be able to test ALL the dogs, we are hoping to test mystery dogs who are with us long term, and possibly one pup from each LeMutte litter where the father is unknown.

Our pet parent friends can purchase discounted DNA tests, DNA/Health Screening tests, and/or Dog Age tests!
