Just two more surgery days remain at Pets In Stitches. After that, my focus turns to closing out operations and vacating the space by the end of the month.

I always knew closing a practice would be a lot of work, but I didn’t anticipate the extent—long days filled with organizing, selling equipment, communicating with vendors and clients, and planning my next professional steps. Even on “days off,” the work doesn’t stop.

One of the more emotional challenges has been letting go of specialized equipment that helped us deliver the kind of care not always found in general practice. Each piece holds a story and a purpose.

Conversations with my remaining team members bring both reflection and gratitude. We’re proud of what we built at Pets In Stitches—a place where patient care truly came first. That passion always guided us.

This photo of our surgery suite says it all. It was more than just a room—it was the heart of our clinic. Purpose-built, efficient, and designed to support high-quality surgical care. I will miss it more than words can express.

If you'd like to stay connected and be notified once I’ve found my new professional home for surgery or dental care, feel free to email [email protected]. I’ll make sure you’re the first to know when I'm ready to care for your pets again.

With gratitude,
Dr. Danielle Rastetter

Important Announcement: Pets In Stitches Is Closing

After many incredible years serving pets and their people, Pets In Stitches will be closing. Our final day of appointments will be July 15th.

This decision was not made lightly, and it comes with a full heart. From the very beginning, we’ve been guided by our passion statement:

“Pets In Stitches offers a caring and safe environment for our patients while improving and saving lives.”

Whether patients came to us through referrals from family veterinarians, local emergency hospitals, or found us on their own—we are so grateful for the trust placed in us.

To our clients, referring vets, ER teams, and everyone who supported us along the way: thank you. You’ve helped make Pets In Stitches a place where meaningful care happened every day, and it has been an honor to be part of your pets’ journeys.

As part of the closure, we will be selling select veterinary equipment and supplies. If you're a veterinary professional or clinic interested in what’s available, please email us at [email protected].

We remain committed to supporting our clients and patients during this transition. If you need records or assistance with follow-up care, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for being part of the Pets In Stitches story. 💙

Kitten season time! Have you been "adopted" by a cat to find out she was pregnant?

One challenging aspect of managing a mother cat is that she can become pregnant AGAIN as early as three weeks after giving birth.

A traditional spay incision through the abdomen doesn't work well for a nursing queen due to incision placement in the middle of engorged milk filled mammary glands.

Luckily, Pets In Stitches' Dr. Rastetter can perform a flank spay when the queen's kittens are at least three weeks old and still nursing.

Give us a call or read our blog to learn more.

Timing is Everything Summertime means many things. Lemonade, pools, flowers in bloom, and litters of kittens being born everywhere. Most of us know this is the time of year cats most commonly have their kittens, but did you know how soon after giving birth you can spay a cat? It might surprise you.....

Can’t teach old dogs new tricks? Hogwash! Teaching tricks is a great way to keep your dog limber in both body and mind. Bond with your furry friend by trying out these tricks:

Shake: Dogs often enjoy using their paws, so you can teach them to shake paws as a greeting and way to bond.

Spin: With a treat up by their nose, you can direct them in a spinning motion and reward with the treat.

Sit: This trick can be the gateway to other tricks like lying down or rolling over.

Remember to keep it fun when teaching your dog tricks. Plan for short training sessions and always provide positive reinforcement. Happy training time!
