We offer daily dog walking and drop-in visits for pets as well! Hi, I'm Missy, owner of Nomad At Home. Nomad At Home is where the two can intersect!

Nomad At Home provides housesitting services that range from simple looking after house plants, feeding fish, & bringing in mail to extensive care taking of all sorts of animals and gardens. A few years after graduating with my Bachelors, living in Florida, I started feeling stuck. I began traveling around the US for a few years working on various types of farms and petsitting/dogwalking. This was

not entirely foreign to me when I started, having grown up on a dairy farm in Eastern Pennsylvania. But eventually I came to a crossroads... As much as I love farming, I also grew to love traveling in my van and the nomadic lifestyle. Animal care experience includes dairy cows, horses, llamas, sheep, goats, chickens, and of course DOGS. Gardening and permaculture skills come from years of study and hobby as well as time spent as an apprentice on a sustainable commercial vegetable farm. I travel in my much-loved conversion van with my own rescue pup named Rosie. She is a Chihuahua mix and you are sure to see her in many of the Nomad At Home photos! Rosie has spent lots of time on farms with me and is used to being around all animals mentioned above.

Who is ready to open their hearts to a kitten?!

Well… I did not intend on fostering any more creatures until after the holidays. But Kelsey and I found this tiny baby on the side of the highway on Monday so naturally she came home with us. We are calling this 5.5 week old female kitten “Highway”. Don’t worry she won’t skip a beat if her adopter decides to change her name lol. She will be adoptable through CatWorks rescue very soon! Huge thank you to them for immediately answering my call for help.

Highway is spending her time with us exploring new things and learning how to feel safe and confident in a loving environment. She is the opposite of “spicy”. She had no trouble learning the litterbox and she finds new interesting things to play with every day (as I type this she’s prancing repeatedly at a flower design on the carpet that she hadn’t noticed before). What Kelly said!!! 💗 couldn’t have put it better myself.

Thankfully we only have 2 out of town clients today. One is an overnight booking so no driving needed, our sitter was already there and woke up at the house today! The other can be accessed by public transportation if need be but it’s a flexible timing cat feeding and we can wait until the rain clears some of the slippery conditions 🤞. Sorry to our midday clients up in the northern end of our service area that we had to cancel today but between a potty accident and a risked vehicle or life of our team members, you know what we are choosing ♥️

going on today, if you are hosting and feeling stressed, working and sad about it, or just not really feeling the holiday spirit and don’t quite know why... take a deep breath and try to make the most of your day.

These two beautiful souls are together again. We started caring for Sierra & Bowser in 2022. In 2024 Sierra crossed the rainbow bridge after years-long battles with cancer and more recently this Fall Bowser went to join his sister, very suddenly. Kate was their primary sitter on our team and took the most excellent care of them during her many stays with them. Thank you to MJW Designs for the commemorative portraits we were able to give to their owners. I wish we could commission a unique portrait for every pet on our roster!

After spending about 3 months with us, our silly snuggly foster Lola was adopted! So so happy for her and her new mom ❤️. I’m pretty sure I’ll be taking a fostering break now for *at least* a month 😮‍💨.

Nomad at Home is a caretaking business for animals and properties of all sorts based out of, well… the road. Traveling to wherever you are, we offer overnight in-home pet sitting services and are designed to be flexible with each and every situation.
