Congratulations to TD Harley and her handler on completing their final ATD Observation visit! They have officially met all the requirements to become a Certified Therapy Dog Team! 🐾✨

Harley will soon be putting her skills to work in a school classroom, bringing comfort, support, and a wagging tail to students each day. Therapy dogs like Harley help reduce stress, encourage social interaction, and create a more positive learning environment for children and staff alike.

We are so proud of this team and can’t wait to see the joy they bring to their school community!

SD Phoenix says come join us on Thursday, October 2nd at 6:30 PM for a service dog meetup at Axe Ventura in Findlay! This event is open to all graduated service dogs and service dogs in training Phase 2* or higher.

The meetup is free for all handlers and puppy raisers. For a bit of fun, there will also be an opportunity for your service dog to safely pose holding an axe for a themed photo shoot.

RSVP to Lex by Wednesday, October 1st so we have an accurate headcount for Axe Ventura.

*Phase 1 dogs may attend only with an approved second handler present.

We're extremely thrilled to welcome Neptune to the Training Room! Neptune is a service dog in training with WoofCraft, Inc. He is with us to continue his puppy raising journey 🐾💜

We're honored to be able to help him grow into a well mannered, well rounded, and confident pup. 😊 Once he finishes his puppy and obedience training, he will return to WoofCraft to learn all the ins and outs of being a service dog!

Our next zoo meetup will take place on Friday, September 26th at 3:00 PM. This event is open to all of our graduated service dogs as well as service dogs in training who have successfully completed or tested out of Phase One.

Some of the most practical skills service dogs learn is how to “tuck” into tight spaces and settle “under” chairs or their handler’s legs when in public.

These behaviors are trained for several important reasons:

🔹 Safety – A dog tucked away is less likely to be stepped on, bumped, or cause someone to trip.

🔹 Accessibility – Public spaces like restaurants, classrooms, and buses are often crowded. A dog lying out in the aisle could block pathways or violate ADA space requirements.

🔹 Professionalism – Service dogs are trained to be as unobtrusive as possible, blending into public settings while still being ready to work.

🔹 Routine – When a dog has a consistent “home base” under a chair or desk, it creates predictability for the dog and helps the handler focus on their own tasks rather than worrying about where their dog is.

SDiT Neptune had such a wonderful outing with Nicole from ! He got to practice some important skills including settling in different environments, maintaining impulse control around distractions, loose leash walking, and staying neutral around other dogs. Experiences like this are so valuable for his training journey, and we are incredibly thankful to have the support of amazing local trainers who are willing to lend their time and skills. It takes a village to raise and prepare these service dogs, and Neptune is lucky to have such a strong team behind him 💙
