About Me – Kaitlyn King
Hi everyone! My name is Kaitlyn King, and I’d love to share a little about my journey in the equestrian world.
First and foremost, I am a follower of Christ. My life is surrendered to Him, and I believe the Bible holds every answer we need for life. My faith shapes not only who I am, but how I train, teach, and care for horses and riders.
My passion for horses began when I was seven years old. My family was given a hand-me-down half-Arabian/Thoroughbred gelding named Echo. My mom had always dreamed of owning a horse, and she poured that dream into us kids. Mom would gallop Echo in the backfield until he was less excited, then my sister and I would take turns riding him as little beginners.
At twelve, my parents bought me a Dunn Quarter Horse mare, whom I personally started and trained all the way to Second Level Classical Dressage. (Second picture) Eventually, I sold her to a young sweet family and used that money to purchase a five-year-old Andalusian/Lusitano gelding named Maximus (next pictures). With the guidance of my classically trained Grand Prix trainer, Maximus and I worked our way into PSG movements—a true dream with a gem of a horse, and my first taste of the beauty of Classical Iberian Dressage.
From age 15 to 25, I ran a training and lesson program in Hastings, FL, leading trail rides and teaching proper riding techniques. Those ten years laid the foundation for my passion in helping others connect with their horses through patience, safety, and proper training.
Life took me on some new adventures after that. My family pursued a health and wellness business in Saint Augustine Beach, where I also picked up surfing as a hobby. I stepped away from horses for about two years, during which time I gained valuable business skills and also served in prison ministry.
When COVID-19 forced our business to close, God blessed me with a new chapter. I met the love of my life, Scotty King, and we were married on July 28, 2021. Every day we grow closer and thank God for His provision and direction.
In recent years, I’ve returned full-time to the horse world. I’ve been teaching beginner lessons at Cooper’s Creek working alongside Sam Prokop’s saintly horses, watching new riders develop into confident and capable horsemen and women. I’ve also organized and directed two years of summer camps, with over 108 children attending this past summer alone!
In Sunmer of 2024, I purchased a Mustang mare who I’ve trained as a lesson and dressage pony, and we’re preparing to explore endurance riding as her next adventure.
And now, my newest chapter is here: branding my own business — King’s Riding & Lessons.
This adventure is about more than just lessons. My vision is to help raise up endurance teams that will travel all across America, with Perry Hopper at his beautiful farm Great Grace, while also building great riders who can excel to their full capacity—whether that’s in Dressage, competitive trail riding, endurance, or simply riding for the joy and pleasure of it.
My dream is simple but strong: to teach riders of all ages in a way that makes their goals and dreams achievable, while breaking things down so every unique learner can understand. Safety is always my mission—and fun is the natural outcome.
