A big loss in Medford

Rescue efforts are underway at Happy Cat Sanctuary where a fire broke out leaving dozens and dozens of cats displaced.

Six cats are currently being transported to the vet and we are desperately seeking fosters.

JUSTICE FOR THIS INNOCENT PUPPY

The Suffolk County SPCA is committed to finding justice for this deceased puppy found in a backpack. Someone out there knows something and we need your help to bring the person responsible to justice.

On November 14, 2024, the Suffolk County SPCA was notified of a tragic discovery: a backpack containing the severely emaciated remains of a deceased French or English bulldog, estimated to be between six months and one year old. The backpack was found on Miller Place-Yaphank Road, north of Whiskey Road in the woods in Miller Place.

The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this heinous act of animal cruelty. SPCA Detectives are actively canvassing the area for witnesses or information related to this crime.

The New York State Humane Association has pledged an additional $1.000 to the reward for information leading to the the arrest and conviction of the person or or persons responsible for the abandonment of a deceased and emaciated, young French/English Bulldog found in a backpack in the woods on Miller Place-Yaphank Road.

An anonymous donor has generously added $1,000 to the reward increasing the the total to $5,000.

Chief Gross emphasized that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County:
“If you witness any act of animal cruelty or neglect, please report it immediately to the Suffolk County SPCA. Together, we can ensure justice for these innocent animals.”

A criminal charge is an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Description: Emaciated Labradoodle or Whoodle type dog White head & feet with gray or black body. Bones protruding, coat matted. Seen on cameras May 14-29. Couldn’t catch or coax it in. Roaming around the woods. Needs help.

‼️PLEASE HELP‼️ Norman was discovered by a clean-up crew discarded in the woods behind an apartment complex. He was petrified, overheated, painful and unable to bear weight on his right front leg, preventing him from moving into a safer location or being able to beg for help. His body shows signs that he has endured a horrible attack. It horrifies us to imagine what this young, innocent soul has endured and yet he is so grateful and accepting of the assistance from kind humans at the shelter. We are going to get this baby all better but we need your help! Please consider making a donation for his extensive medical care. We will keep everyone posted on his progress 💙

🐶 Oh, No, COCO. Say it isn't so!🐶
COCO, a happy 6 yr old Beagle Boy, came to Last Hope today from the Town of Brookhaven Shelter.
It seems COCO was one of 8 Beagles seized because they were living in a car on Rt.112 in Medford .
Not sure, but we assume their former owner was living in the crowded car too.
Most of the other Beagles went from Brookhaven Shelter to another rescue.
COCO is looking for a more spacious home where he will be treated as a Beagly member of the family.
