Happy National Dog Day!
Today, we’re honoring one of our most special seniors—Raven, our current longest resident.
Raven has been with us since 2023. For over a year, she had to be boarded at two different facilities because we had no foster home available for her. Despite these challenges, Raven’s resilience shines through.
I’ve been personally fostering Raven, and I can proudly say she’s doing so well. She’s dropped much of her extra weight, and while mobility is still a challenge, the progress she’s made is incredible. She has chilled out so much, and one of her favorite spots is her crate—which I keep open so she can nap there whenever she pleases.
Raven makes sure I get outside for her daily exercise, and in turn, she helps me get out of my own head. We rely on each other. She is funny, smart, beautiful, and loving. She also has a bit of a silly side—she’ll beg for food even though she has plenty of her own.
Since coming into foster care, she hasn’t had any accidents, she’s grown more comfortable, and she has reminded us all of the deep bond that forms when you give a senior dog a chance.
On this National Dog Day, I want to celebrate Raven and all the amazing seniors like her. It’s truly an honor to care for her.
