Bruno was struggling with reactivity—lunging, barking, and turning everyday life into a stressful experience for his family. Walks were a nightmare, guests stopped visiting, and his owner felt completely overwhelmed.

Enter Koru K9 trainer Jeremy in Northern California!

With the right guidance, Bruno is now the well-mannered, happy dog his owner always hoped for!

Koru K9 changed our lives! I have a two year old English Bulldog who at about the 18 month mark, started exhibiting reactive behavior. It was increasingly getting worse - walks became a nightmare, he would pull aggressively on his leash, barking and lunging at people and dogs. In the home, he would go wild when people came over, jumping on furniture, hu***ng them, and I realized I stopped having people come over. It got to the point where I was not able to control him, so I reached out to Koru K9.

The entire experience was great, from start to finish. I entered some info online, and received a response right away. The intake call was very helpful to give an overview of his behaviors. One of the things I was immediately impressed with is I noticed they did not draw on my emotion and fears and try to “oversell” me by recommending the longest board and train program. They recommended a four week board and train, and we were grateful to be paired with Jeremy. I had seen some of his videos on the Koru K9 site, and thought his experience would be helpful for our needs. Jeremy coordinated a call with me to get more info, and we then coordinated a time for pick up.

During the four weeks while Bruno was at training, I watched more of the videos on the site, which gave me some foundation on what to do (and not do!). When Jeremy brought Bruno home, he spent time training me. I appreciate that we worked hands on with Bruno, walking him, learning how to put on his collars, and Jeremy did not rush me at all, he made sure that all of my questions were answered. Since coming home, I’ve been following all of the instructions, and walks are now such a pleasure - the neighbors have even made comments about his changed behavior, and in the house, he stays on his place pad when told. Thank you Jeremy and Koru K9, I now have the dog I’ve always wanted!

Riley was struggling with anxiety, resource guarding, biting, and discomfort with crate time—but with structure, consistency, and hard work, this pup is making amazing progress!🐶

He was anxious, reactive and at times dangerous. We decided to finally take the step of getting him some dog training when we found Will Greenway through Koru. From his initial introduction visit he made an impression on us and Riley. We started to see immediate results and change in our dogs demeanor. After day one we booked a 5 session package and met with him every Thursday at our house in Vancouver, WA. By the end of the 5th week we had Riley walking side by side with Will's own trained dog without him batting an eye. He also accomplished the impossible by training him to go to B.E.D.! Riley is still a work in progress, but we are on our way to having a well behaved dog! Thank you Will!"

In this episode, Koru K9 founders Ray & Bridget sit down with trainers Shane, Ashley, and Damian to discuss what the *beginning* of a dog’s Board & Train journey actually looks like—and why it matters so much.

When a dog enters our program, they’re stepping into a brand new world. It’s not uncommon for them to feel unsure, overwhelmed, or shut down. And that’s exactly why we don’t rush the process.

At Koru K9, we move at the speed of the dog. We don’t force them into training. We build them up—slowly, intentionally—by establishing trust, offering clear structure, and allowing them to settle at their own pace.

We’re thrilled to welcome Madison to the team! Based in NorCal, she’ll be working with clients through our In-Home Training Program, helping dogs and their humans build better lives together. 🐶

A little bit about Madison -

'Madison grew up with dogs, but it wasn’t until she adopted her first as an adult that she truly understood the challenges—and rewards—of training. After exploring different approaches, she discovered balanced training, which significantly improved her ability to communicate with her dog and deepened their bond. In 2017, Madison began a Master’s in Ecology, focusing on how environmental changes impact California sea lions. After completing her degree in 2020, she teamed up with the trainer who helped her find such a fulfilling training experience a few years prior, expanding her knowledge of dog behavior through hands-on experience, seminars, and client collaboration. Madison has merged her passions for dog training and ecology by training her own dogs in conservation detection. With client dogs, she uses the knowledge gained from her working dogs to help people build more meaningful, active relationships with their dogs.'
