💚 Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, a reminder to check in on ourselves and each other. In veterinary medicine, this day carries significant weight. Studies show that male veterinarians are about 2x more likely to die by su***de than the general population, while female veterinarians face an even higher risk at 3.5x more than average. Veterinary technicians and further staff are also at increased risk. Stressors like long hours, debt, client expectations, and the emotional toll of the field contribute to this crisis.
If you’re struggling, please know you are not alone and help is available. Let’s support one another, break the stigma, and remember that it’s okay to ask for help. 💚🐾
