Final clinic day with Gray Kyle-Graves. This was such a beautiful weekend. I’m super proud of all our riders who participated, and excited to practice finding some new feelings at home.

Moments from the last day:

The signal and the noise. Send a signal, create less noise.

Is this an event, or an emergency?

We want to practice the thing that we’re looking for.

If I stay in balance and relaxed, gravity will help me keep my structure. I use more muscle if I’m working against gravity.

The soft place is a place you both can rest into.

If they don’t feel safe about it, then being exposed to a lot doesn’t help. Exposure while feeling safe builds confidence.

Start with not very much, and go up to the point where you’re being clear.

Today was a big full day at the Gray Kyle-Graves clinic. So many good moments and teamwork to manage six horses off site!

Moments:

Do something that isn’t getting stuck.

If we’re losing impulsion we’re probably stopping her somewhere.

I’m not trying to get after you, I’m trying to get through.

Internal locus of control. I’m okay.

Respect isn’t a horsey term.

Horses don’t think about what to not do.

Whatever we practice, we get better at.

Present yourself at the level of a rider skilled enough to say “you don’t have to brace and protect yourself against me.”

Just a couple moments to share before bed:

Self discipline is really self trust.

The trick to staying connected is staying connected.

Offer the horse a soft place, but meet her where she is.

Focus on what you want even if you’re not getting it.

You are inherently good.

Kevin and Mary completed their very first shows ever and each got scores above 60% and a ribbon! Jackson and Poppy were rockstars and enjoyed the grass buffet.
