NJVMA is deeply saddened by the passing of Clifford G. Muddell, DVM, an honorary member, past NJVMA president, and dedicated leader in New Jersey veterinary medicine.

Known to many as “Dr. Cliff,” Dr. Muddell served the Clifton community for nearly 30 years and helped shape emergency veterinary care in New Jersey as a founding partner of the state’s first emergency veterinary clinic. His commitment to organized veterinary medicine included service as Chair of NJVMA’s Ethics and Grievance Committee, NJVMA President, and AVMA Delegate for New Jersey.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Muddell’s family, friends, colleagues, clients, and all who were impacted by his life and career. His legacy of service, leadership, and compassion will not be forgotten.

USDA APHIS is seeking to get information directly to veterinarians as quickly as possible regarding travel of animals (especially pets), as they recognize that veterinarians are receiving many questions on this topic, specifically related to New World Screwworm (NWS). The most expedient and accurate way for the agency to share information is through its website.

All NWS related travel restrictions as relayed to USDA APHIS by US trading partners are being noted on the USDA APHIS webpages below.
➡️ APHIS International Regulations (IRegs) for non-pet species: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/live-animal-export
➡️ APHIS International Pet Travel website for pet species: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel/us-to-another-country-export -link-cdc-alert-export

APHIS is still working with many trading partners, including Mexico, to clarify the restrictions/updated requirements. The USDA APHIS webpages will be updated just as soon as new information is received.

They are asking that people not contact the USDA APHIS offices for additional information about country-specific restrictions, because USDA-APHIS doesn’t have additional information beyond what is posted to their webpages.

USDA APHIS wants to emphasize that they are working as quickly as possible with US trading partners, and they appreciate patience and understanding as they work through complex issues.
