Hey guys! I figured I would do an introduction post since I’m going to be a mentor in Riders Wars 2025. Rider Wars is an event in the Appalachain Trainer Faceoff through Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue Inc. . It focuses on riders at any level furthering their horsemanship in a number of skills, not just riding. I’m extremely honored to be able to help some of you along.

If you’ve been around you know I love to share all of my knowledge with my students and peers. If you’ve have a question I will answer it to the best of my ability. If I don’t know the answer I’ll work with you on finding it and pointing you in the right direction of who can help.

A little about me, I’ve ridden saddleseat and western mainly with some dabble in other English disciplines. I love encouraging the confidence in horses, riders and teams. I’ve seen so many flourish and it’s an amazing thing to watch.

I derive my training techniques from vaquero style riding. Even though they’ve worked wonderfully for most horses, I’ve learned to adapt in ways that ultimately work best for the horse. My teaching technique is the same as in a like to throw things at you to see what sticks and what doesn’t we go back until it does. We go back to basics a lot, even when learning more advanced things, it always comes down to the most basic principles.

I can’t wait to meet those involved and to see how much each of us can accomplish come August. Each persons journey is unique to them, most of all have fun and learn as much as you can along the way!

‼️SOLD‼️

✨Quinn✨

10/11 year old grade paint mare
Selling as a project to a confident and/or intermediate rider/handler.
15 hh
Charleston, WV

Walk/trot/lope under saddle
Trail rides
Lunges
Ground drives
Cross ties or single tie to anything
Good with getting sprayed off, fly spray, clippers and the vet.
Can lack confidence and be iffy about her back feet.
If you ride her much she’ll probably need shoes, but she’s barefoot now and doing good.
Easy to catch anywhere, low on the totem pole when in the field. She is currently stalled with turnout right now.
Leary of kids but my four year old is slowly turning that around. Lol.
Good ranch horse or barrel prospect, she’ll be introduced to cows later this month. Or go trail ride her, she enjoys that.

Willing to trade for a prospect (barrels, ranch or cowhorse) or 2.5🥕 and she can be yours. Her price will go up if I have her much longer. She’s to nice of a horse to sit, and unfortunately won’t make a beginner lesson horse just yet. Which is what I need her to be right now for my lesson program. Up to date on everything, vaccines will be due in the fall.

Will add more pictures and videos as I get them.

Hey guys I want you to meet a special little horse. Miss Quinn has been with me for a few months, and she is being completely restarted. She is about 10 years old, and 15 hh. She doesn’t mind anything but just didn’t know as much as I felt she should to continue riding. Doesn’t balk at a saddle or rider and will walk off/guide.

She came to me from an owner that wanted her to have a better situation. Unfortunately she is not going to fit into my lesson program, which is okay! She needs a good confident person, not multiple beginners or someone that lacks confidence. She is incredibly smart and does have some knowledge. While she’s here I’ll work on expanding that to see where she will fit in. Barrel or ranch horse, it hasn’t been decided yet. She is in a stall right now but can be kept out to pasture. Is easy to catch, and low on the totem pole. I’m talking very bottom.

Videos will be available this week. And better pictures. Mother Nature has been nuts so it’s put me behind with her.

What she does know:
Lunge both ways, stop and turn directions
Hard ties to a wall or anywhere she’s tied really
Loves being groomed
Takes tack and a rider without issue. Will stand to be mounted.
Ground drives pretty decent. Walk/trot with changes of direction, stop and back up
Decent ground manners, can get impatient. Doesn’t run over you or bolt.
Loads/unloads well, and hauls good. Will work on her backing off a trailer once everything isn’t ice and snow outside.

What she needs work on:
Expanding her riding knowledge
Building confidence in people
Picking up feet. She will but gets antsy so could be better
Patience, being left tied especially. This could potentially carry over into riding as anxiety so I’m doing what I need to do to prevent that.
Backing off a trailer
Cross ties, just haven’t put her in them yet.

She is available now as a prospect and project. She does not need moved yet, but will need to be eventually. Every horse deserves a home with individualized attention, her especially. She’s a sweet girl that deserves the best.

I have 2-3 spots open for lessons beginning the first week of March. Tuesday evening (beginner) and Thursday afternoon/evening. I do run a tuition style program with the first lesson being the same price and the option to enroll afterwards. I also offer meet and greets at no fee. These do not include ride time, you’ll get to meet the horses and myself. Good for kids that are a little unsure or shy, and older kids/adults that are worried if my style of teaching may not work for you.

If interested feel free to message here or comment. If interested in possibly showing now is the time to get started!

I’ll have one training spot open December 1st. If interested comment or message any questions you may have.

I’ll have some time for trail riding lessons before the weather turns bad. These will go quick as there aren’t many spots available.

I’m also still taking lessons throughout the week if you have your own horse. If lessons open up on my horses I will let everyone know.

Thanks and enjoy your fall!! 🍁🍂

When I tell you this horse loves my kid I mean it. She’s so good and gentle with him. (Yes I told him to get up onto his feet right after I snapped this picture) I always tell everyone she’s just a horse, there’s nothing super flashy about her, but she’s safe and predictable. If you can steer and pull back a little to say whoa you can ride her. Miss Tamira has put on a good amount of weight over the last few months. She’s still leery of new people but once she knows you, she’ll remember you. She’s a great trail horse. Go over, through or under anything you ask. We’re working on her confidence on the ground with strangers in small doses.

I made the decision to keep her here after the ATFO (which she did not attend) so she wouldn’t have to be shuffled around so much. I’ve used her in a couple lessons with beginners that know the basics. Not suitable for a young kid if they tend to daydream as she’ll take you where she wants to go (usually back to her pasture or stall 😅). I’ve just let her chill and be able to relax for the most part. If anyone is looking for a good gaited trail horse this is your girl

I have some lesson openings for afternoon/evenings during the week. If you’d like more info please message or comment. Starting in November I’ll have Saturday afternoons available as well.

Lessons are focused on horsemanship and making you a better rider despite discipline. From groundwork to riding skills it is all covered. You will have the opportunity to learn to go between any discipline and how to make the changes necessary. Main disciplines are ranch horse, barrels/poles, dry work for cow work and trail riding. Look for some English disciplines to hopefully be added late fall or the end of the year!

Training spots will be open in November as well.

Well you all are going to have to excuse my lack of pictures because my camera has decided it’s done with me 😅

Miss Tamira has been doing really good. She’s enjoying her alfalfa as you can see. The last couple weeks I’ve learned so much about this girl.

The pros

✨She’s fearless on the trail
✨ She wants to please under saddle
✨She’s excited to go do work!
✨She LOVES carrots 🥕
✨She’s clean in her stall
✨For a white horse she stays relatively white 🤍😅
✨Shes safe for just about anyone under saddle as long as you know the basics
✨She bonds to her person

The cons

♨️She really only bonds to one person and it starts over with every new person she meets
♨️ She tends to be shut down on the ground, which is why she flees from things that make her nervous.
♨️She can be pacey, but with consistent work she is able to go into a nice 4 beat gait.
♨️She has some minor allergies that make her eyes water 🤧
♨️She needs a soft girth as she has sensitive skin

This mare hasn’t had it easy, but she’s never been abused or through some of the horrors some HOP horses have. She’s been bounced around from a couple different places. The trainers that had her before me gave her such a good foundation and a wonderful start. That sticks with this horse, and slowly (but faster thanks to those before me) I’ve been able to chip away at those walls she has up. She’s learning to trust people, more of her personality is shining through, and she’s starting to become a favorite for my lessons to visit and love on.

We are still looking for sponsors for the next two months board. (Thank you Emily Kamal for helping with her first month of board and the chopped alfalfa🤍) I also put together a wishlist of things from Amazon. I’ll post the link below. Monetary donations can come to me through Venmo (), PayPal (), or directly through the rescue for a tax deduction (just make sure to use my name or so they know who it goes to).

As a showcase Miss Tamira is available to adopt now. I highly recommend you to come out meet her, and set aside plenty of time so you can really get to know her. You’ll need to fill out the adoption application through Heart of Phoenix as well in order to come meet her.

Sneak peak of before I let our next riding video out 🤩 she’s making improvements each day.

She’ll make a nice confident rider a great little horse. I’m currently looking for sponsorships to see about getting her back to my place. If any of you may know of a business or individual interested in sponsoring her let me know! This will also allow her to start her ulcer medication which will be crucial to her health.
