If you need financial assistance, we have two generous donors with matching funds for this event, which allows us to offer cat
spays/neuters and rabies (if needed) for $15 for those who qualify.
If you don't need financial assistance, you can schedule as usual.
This can be for your personal cats, outside colonies, neighborhood cats, those who have adopted you, etc. If you have a pregnant cat that you need assistance with spaying, we can work them in sooner than 8/18. For all others, here are the details (READ ALL DETAILS BEFORE CALLING TO SCHEDULE):

2. We will schedule 60 female cats and 60 male cats.

3. This Catapalooza is sponsored by MKHP and two generous donors. This sponsorship is to offset the cost for anyone considered low-income, veterans, current military, educators, and all first responders.

Deacon’s Heart (DH) is a nonprofit fund, designed by the owner/veterinarian of My Kids Have Paws Veterinary Clinic (MKHP) in Dalton, GA (www.mykidshavepawsvet.com; My Kids Have Paws). Here’s a bit of our backstory:

MKHP was started 7 years ago to provide affordable veterinary care to the northwest GA region; this mission is designed to help keep pets in their homes, reduce the burden on shelters/rescues, and decrease the euthanasia rate. Since COVID, the world of animal rescue/welfare has gotten so much worse. Euthanasia rates in our area have tripled, dumped animals are all over the place, pleas on FB and other social media platforms for rehoming are staggering.

DH was started approximately 1 year ago to raise funds to help offset our low prices, to increase availability to spay/neuter, and to help even more people keep animals in their homes. We currently raise funds for: spay/neuter, medical care, no restrictions. Because we’re trying to make an impact in the northwest GA region, our funds go to services provided by MKHP (it’s the most affordable option in most cases). We hope to someday expand this to other geographical areas/clinics.

At this time, if you need financial assistance at our clinic, please contact our rescue team at MKHP – [email protected].

If you’d like to donate, you can click on our button on our website (deaconsheart.org) and donate through PayPal – please email us if you’d like your funds to support something specific. Otherwise, please reach out to [email protected] for any other means of donation.

Please like and share to spread the word! We appreciate your support!

UPDATE ON NEW CAT NEUTER AND FERAL CAT POLICY!

As we announced last week, we've been inundated with feral cats and male cats. We love that we're a part of the solution, but it makes it very hard on our surgeon(s) when we get over 20 female feral cats and 20 male cats added in a single day. So, yes, we are changing our policy and limiting the numbers, but because we still want to be as helpful as possible, we are adding to our protocol:

We will reserve cat neuter and feral cat walk-in spots every day we're open for surgery.
On Sundays, we will list the number of walk-in spots plus the number of open appointment spots for each category.
YOU CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT for feral cats if you know you will be trapping. NO DEPOSIT NECESSARY, unless this becomes an issue moving forward. PLEASE only make an appointment if you KNOW you will be trapping. If you make an appointment, you must be at the clinic by 8:30. If you're not here by 8:30, we will open your appointment spot to a walk-in.
Again, we strongly encourage you to book an appointment for a cat neuter - NO DEPOSIT NECESSARY, unless this becomes an issue.

For this week, we have the following availability:
Mon: 11 walk-in cat neuters, 10 feral cat spots
Tues: 10 walk-in cat neuters, 6 feral cat appointment spots, 4 feral cat walk-in spots
Thurs: 5 walk-in cat neuters, 6 feral cat appointments, 4 feral cat walk-ins
Fri: 1 appt cat neuter, 10 walk-in cat neuters, 4 feral cat appointments, 6 feral cat walk-ins

Please let us know if you have any questions!

ABOUT US

My Kids Have Paws Veterinary Clinic, LLC was established to provide compassionate, affordable veterinary care for people and their pets in northwest Georgia. Based in Dalton, GA, My Kids Have Paws offers a full service veterinary clinic, in-home veterinary visits, mobile spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, exotic pet exams, and discounts for rescue organizations and people with a large number of pets needing services. Our mission is to provide compassionate, affordable care for animals and our values are empathy, transparency, honesty, and integrity.

The founder/owner of My Kids Have Paws Veterinary Clinic, Robyn O’Kane, has been a veterinarian for 5 years. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Robyn taught Human Anatomy and Physiology to nursing students in Queens, NY, enjoying the diversity of the students and their learning styles. However, her passion for animal welfare finally overcame her love of teaching. Her personal mission is to help reduce euthanasia rates by spaying/neutering and to help keep pets in their homes with affordable surgical and medical care.

Because of the diversity of our offerings, our schedule changes weekly. We encourage you to check on our page every Sunday for the updated schedule. Please contact us with any questions!
