Melissa the sitter is an experienced sitter for pets and places! She has experience with dogs, cats, ducks, fish and even a bearded dragon! As a dog owner for most of her life and a home owner since 2004, Melissa knows what it takes to ensure you do not have any worries while you are away. Although Melissa does not accept pets at her home or spend the night at yours, she will make sure your pet is

happy and comfortable while you are away! She will take care of your pets like her own and make sure your house is safe and secure while you are away. Note: House checks do not guarantee that nothing will happen, but it does guarantee that a situation will be handled sooner than later. Rates are job dependent and Melissa will be happy to schedule a meeting with you to give you a quote.

Our Story

Melissa the sitter is an experienced sitter for pets and places! She has experience with dogs, cats, ducks, fish and even a bearded dragon! As a dog owner for over 20 years, Melissa and her husband currently reside with their four rescue dogs and two pre-teenagers! They have owned a home in BSL since 2004. Melissa started Melissa the Sitter in 2012 after her friend Kathi needed a last minute dog sitter. Since then, the business has grown through referrals and many of the clients make an extra key for Melissa to keep. Each key is marked with a tag, with a distinctive name, that is not able to be identified by anyone but Melissa. Although Melissa does not accept pets at her home or spend the night at yours, she will make sure your pet is happy and comfortable while you are away! She will take care of your pets like her own and make sure your house is safe and secure while you are away. Melissa is background checked through Brunswick County Schools as a volunteer and is a member of the Southport Evening Rotary Club. She is also the founder of Melissa the Coach where she is a personal finance coach, speaker and author.
