Kicking Off the Year with Growth & Learning!

Our first workshop this year was a Biomechanics Workshop, and it was a great success! Riders put in the effort to understand how their position and movement influence their horse’s balance, responsiveness, and overall performance.

From refining posture to making small but meaningful adjustments in the saddle, the progress was clear. Riders not only gained a deeper understanding of how their own biomechanics affect their horse, but they also had plenty of “aha” moments that will carry over into their riding. Watching their confidence build throughout the workshop was rewarding to see.

Of course, no learning experience is complete without some fun, and we had plenty of that, too. Thank you to everyone who came with an open mind and a willingness to challenge themselves—we’re excited to see how these insights shape your riding in the weeks ahead. What a great way to start the year!

Horses: The Ultimate Investigators

If you’ve spent any time around horses, you know how curious they are. They use their lips and teeth like fingers, exploring textures and objects—sometimes a little too thoroughly.

Yesterday, I misplaced my earbuds without realizing they had fallen out of my pocket… in Elliott’s stall. When I came back to feed him, he had helpfully located them for me. The case was on the ground, and my earbuds? Neatly placed in his corner feeder.

Elliott clearly took his job as lead investigator very seriously. Thankfully, all parts are accounted for, and he didn’t ingest anything! But let this be a reminder—if it’s within reach, a horse will check it out.

What’s the most unexpected thing your horse has “helped” you find?

🌟 Lacey is Entering Her Third Trimester! 🌟

Our sweet mare, Lacey, is officially in her third trimester of pregnancy! Her estimated due date is June 18, 2025, but foals don’t always arrive exactly on schedule. A typical equine pregnancy lasts 320-370 days, meaning Lacey could foal anytime between late May and early July.

Right now, Lacey is in month seven, and if we’re lucky, we might start seeing tiny kicks from the baby soon! As we move into month eight and beyond, those movements will become even stronger and more visible as the foal continues to grow. It’s always so special to catch a glimpse of those little legs stretching inside!

As we head into these final months, Lacey will be getting extra care to support both her and her growing foal. We’ll be keeping a close eye on her as we get closer to foaling time, watching for signs that baby is on the way!

Who’s excited to meet this little one? 💛 Is it a c**t or filly, What's your Guess?

Enjoy the baby bump photos

I think this is true, regardless of gender. Strong humans arent born they’re made.

“Calm seas never made a sailor “

Hard times are necessary for growth. Some of the coolest people we know have such a crazy past and have been through some things in life.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐧, 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲’𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞.

Strength isn’t just a trait—it’s a journey. For women in the horse industry, that journey is paved with challenges, perseverance, driven by an almost childlike passion for the horse.

Every strong woman knows that her resilience didn’t happen overnight. It’s forged from failure, and the unyielding dedication to becoming the best version of herself.

At Abby Page Performance Horses, we celebrate the women who rise to every occasion, whether it's in the show pen or behind the scenes. These women know the power of patience when training, the art of grace under pressure, and the joy of small victories that lead to big dreams.

Just like the horses they ride, strong women are shaped by their experiences. They embrace every lesson, every setback, and every triumph as stepping stones toward excellence.

Our mission is to empower riders to unlock their full potential—mentally, physically, and emotionally—while achieving notable success with their horses. We understand that being strong doesn’t mean being flawless. It means showing up, learning from mistakes, and growing with every stride.

To every woman striving to be better today than she was yesterday, this is your reminder: 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡—𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞.

Let’s keep building each other up, one ride at a time 🩵💪

Things your riding instructor wants you to know:
1. This sport is hard. You don't get to bypass the hard…..every good rider has gone through it. You make progress, then you don't, and then you make progress again. Your riding instructor can coach you through it, but they cannot make it easy.

2. You're going to ride horses you don't want to ride. If you're teachable, you will learn from every horse you ride. Each horse in the barn can teach you if you let them. IF YOU LET THEM. Which leads me to…

3. You MUST be teachable to succeed in this sport. You must be teachable to succeed at anything, but that is another conversation. Being teachable often means going back to basics time and time and time again. If you find basics boring, then your not looking at them as an opportunity to learn. Which brings me to…..

4. This sport is a COMMITMENT. Read that, then read it again. Every sport is a commitment, but in this sport your teammate weighs 1200 lbs and speaks a different language. Good riders don't get good by riding every once in awhile….they improve because they make riding a priority and give themsevles opportunity to practice.

5. EVERY RIDE IS AN OPPORTUNITY. Even the walk ones. Even the hard ones. Every. Single. Ride. Remember when you just wished someone would lead you around on a horse? Find the happiness in just being able to RIDE. If you make every ride about what your AREN'T doing, you take the fun out of the experience for yourself, your horse, and your instructor. Just enjoy the process. Which brings me to...

6. Riding should be fun. It is work. and work isn't always fun.....but if you (or your rider) are consistently choosing other activities or find yourself not looking forward to lessons, it's time to take a break. The horses already know you don't want to be here, and you set yourself up for failure if you are already dreading the lesson before you get here.

7. You'll learn more about horses from the ground than you ever will while riding. That's why ground lessons are important, too. If you're skipping ground lessons (or the part of your lesson that takes place on the ground), you're missing out on the most important parts of the lesson. You spend far more time on the ground with horses than you do in the saddle.

8. Ask questions and communicate. If you're wondering why your coach is having you ride a particular horse or do an exercise, ask them. Then listen to their answer and refer to #3 above.

9. We are human beings. We make decisions (some of them life and death ones) every day. We balance learning for students with workloads for horses and carry the bulk of this business on our shoulders. A little courtesy goes a long way.

Of all the sports your child will try through their school years, riding is one of 3 that they may continue regularly as adults (golf and skiing are the others). People who coach riding spend the better part of their free time and much of their disposable income trying to improve their own riding and caring for the horses who help teach your child. They love this sport and teaching others…..but they all have their limits. Not all good riders are good coaches, but all good coaches will tell you that the process to get good is not an easy one.
