Jayne’s Training Tips: Recall = Safety + Freedom

Teaching your dog a solid recall is one of the most important skills you can give them, it means more play, more freedom, and a lot more peace of mind for you!

Start small and make it fun!

Distractions are tough but with patience and practice, your dog can learn to come running every time you call.

Need help getting started?
📩DM me for a consultation and let’s build reliable recall together!

One of the most useful commands you can teach your dog? PLACE.

Whether you’re welcoming guests, cooking dinner, or just trying to get through a Zoom meeting in peace, the “Place” command teaches your dog to settle calmly in one designated spot.

It’s not just about obedience. “Place” builds focus, patience, and impulse control. It gives your pup a clear job to do and helps prevent problem behaviors like begging, pacing, or jumping.

I use “Place” every day in training and at home. It’s a simple command with big results, and our dogs love having their own special zone to relax.

Thinking about adding this to your training routine?
📩DM me to learn how we teach it step-by-step in private sessions and group class!

Jesse’s got the right idea, stay cozy during fireworks!
Set up a safe, quiet space for your pup tonight:
✔️ Close windows & curtains
✔️ Play calming music
✔️ Keep treats & toys close
✔️ Leash up before opening doors, even calm dogs can bolt if startled.

Wishing you and your pets a safe and Happy 4th of July!🇺🇸

Fireworks can be scary for pets but a few simple steps can keep them calm and safe. 🐶❤️🤍💙

Quick Tips: 🎆
1. Close windows, doors, and curtains.
- This limits noise and flashes and helps prevent escape if your dog gets spooked and tries to run.

2. Play calming sounds.
- Music or white noise can help drown out fireworks and keep the environment relaxed.

3. Create a cozy retreat.
- Set up a quiet space with their bed, toys, or crate where they feel safe and secure.

4. Stay nearby and calm
- Your presence helps your pets feel safe. Keep your energy relaxed and reassuring.

5. Use treats and calming tools
- High-value chews, toys, or calming aids can ease anxiety.

6. Exercise and potty early
- Get in a good walk and bathroom break before the noise starts. A tired dog is more likely to relax.

A little planning helps keep your pets calm, safe, and stress-free during fireworks.

✨ Tip: Take potty breaks before the fireworks start!

☀️Happy Friday from Jesse and his new friend Biscuit, a 3-legged Formosan Mountain Dog. She came from Taiwan two years ago and adopted by my client. Biscuit has been a work in progress. She is very independent, opinionated, and rather just hang out alone. With the start of training, we brought her out of her shell quite a bit. There’s still a ways to go, but we’re hoping that her person does not have to carry her out of a hike when she is not ready to go! And walk on her own three legs!!
