Burggren Blair DVM Blair Burggren is a relief emergency veterinarian, currently licensed in WA, OR, CA, NY and now TX! I am licensed in WA, OR, CA, NY and TX.

I am a traveling relief emergency veterinarian based in Olympia Washington. Additionally, I work with several non-profit animal rescues and farm animal sanctuaries and with law enforcement agencies. I am also a husband, a dad, a vegan and now in a Masters degree program in Veterinary Forensics through the University of Florida.

Good work to all of those involved in this seizure. Many people are shocked to learn that c**k fighting is still a thing. It is! It is also a felony in all 50 states. It is commonly linked to illegal drugs, fi****ms, gambling, and other violent crimes. Seizure operations like these usually involve many agencies at the local, tribal, county, state and federal level. Sometimes c**kfighting rings like these are even coordinated by individuals in the prison system. Let that sink in for a moment. Run from prison.

Despite the common misconception, the birds can be adopted/re-homed. They are wonderful to work with. I have examined, tested, and written health certificates for hundreds of them to travel to homes and sanctuaries in other states. Thank you to all the individuals and agencies involved in helping these birds and stopping the abuse.

If you want to help these birds... YOU CAN! Contact and donate to the nonprofits (linked in the original post) that are actively working right now to provide medical care and housing to them while they go through the motions of investigation, prosecution and eventual adoption. All of this is very hard work and takes a great deal of resources. Your taxes provide resources for investigations of crimes against humans and animals (to a smaller extent) but caring for these animals falls on nonprofit groups with great big hearts and already very tight budgets.

This is what I travel with now. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been woken up by housekeeping trying to get into my room when I have specifically requested no housekeeping and had the regular “do not disturb sign” on the door. They must just be on auto pilot. I ordered this from Amazon and so far so good. 😴💤💤
