The NVA Heroes at Hendricks Veterinary Hospital keep unhoused pets and people together—one pop-up clinic at a time. 🐾💙

Since November 2023, Hendricks Veterinary Hospital in Boise, Idaho, has partnered with The Street Dog Coalition—a nonprofit organization providing free veterinary care to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Through these pop-up clinics, the team has provided care for around 350 pets. 🐕 The animals receive vaccines, flea and tick prevention, microchips, and vouchers for spay/neuter services and dental care.

“The Street Dog Coalition clinics have had a significant impact on me as a veterinarian by strengthening both my clinical skills and my sense of professional purpose,” said Dr. Robin Lemoine, who leads the efforts in collaboration with the Idaho Humane Society. “As veterinary professionals, our calling is more than treating animals—it’s about strengthening the bond between people and their pets.” ✨

Today and every day, we honor the veterans who have served our country—including Dr. Jean DeNapoli, a retired U.S. Army Reserve Major and veterinarian at NVA GP's East Brook Animal Hospital. 🇺🇸

While serving in the Army Reserves, Dr. DeNapoli built connections with veterinarians from around the world—experience she brings to her practice every day.

"My dad served in the Navy during WWII, my uncles served in the Air Force, and my best friend and veterinary technician coworker is a Navy veteran," she shared. "I am truly honored to serve beside some really amazing people."

To all veterans and their families—thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your continued dedication. ❤️

The NVA Heroes at Alta Animal Hospital saved this abandoned Great Dane—then made her family. 🐾

When a frail and abandoned pup arrived at Alta Animal Hospital, she weighed just 37 pounds—barely a third of what a healthy Great Dane should weigh. The team knew they needed to act immediately.

"She was a warrior from day one," said Lindsay Davis, Hospital Manager at Alta Animal Hospital.

But two weeks into recovery, they discovered a devastating setback: a chronic foreign body was obstructing her GI tract. She needed emergency surgery.

Thanks to Dr. Taylor Ellis and the team, the surgery was a success. And after 30 days of intensive care, Dr. Ellis made a life-changing decision: she adopted her and named her Twiggy—after the iconic 1960s model.

"Without question, I knew we were meant to be family," said Dr. Ellis.

Today, Twiggy is thriving—running trails, living her best life, and sharing her adventures on Instagram at .

"Her journey from the brink of starvation to a life filled with joy is a constant reminder of the power of resilience, love, and second chances," said Dr. Ellis.

It’s not every day that you get to help a 0.05-pound bearded dragon. 🦎💚

When this tiny patient came in with a severe foot injury, Dr. Ernesto Dominguez, DACVPM—Managing Veterinarian at Bell Creek Veterinary Hospital and one of only a few board-certified specialist veterinarians in Virginia—successfully performed a foot amputation to give Gordon a second chance.

“We treat them all here at Bell Creek Veterinary Hospital,” said Dr. Dominguez. “Big and small, furry, scaly, and feathered.”
