Since 1935, the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society (MACS) has worked towards a "be kind to animals world." Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday 8am-4pm.

To report animal cruelty or neglect, please call the shelter at 313-891-7188. Since 1935, Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society (MACS) has been providing refuge to stray, injured, and forgotten animals. We work to promote humane education and provide outreach services and resources to animals in need. In 2016, MACS investigated 895 cruelty complaints. MACS provides extensive sheltering, veterinary care an

d pet adoption services to the thousands of animals that pass through our shelter doors. We never turn away an animal in need. For many animals, MACS is their only hope.

🎉 Remember when we said we had more happy news to share? Well, here it is… in just TWO days—Friday and Saturday—we had TEN ADOPTIONS! 🐾❤️

✨ Snowball decided foster was forever and was officially adopted.
✨ Desiree and Hocus Pocus said “see ya later” from our cat adoption area inside PetSmart Utica.
✨ Tinkerbell found her family at today’s adoption event.
✨ And the BIGGEST news—Harley, Patience, Paws, Atlas, Dude, and Marla were all adopted straight from the shelter! 🙌

So many dogs and cats went home directly from the shelter this weekend. There is NOTHING better than seeing kennel and cage doors open as our pets walk out with their forever families. 💕

That’s TEN lives changed in just two days—and we can’t wait for even more happy tails to come! 🐶🐱

Our sweet girl Tinker Bell is ADOPTED! 💕

A huge thank-you to her generous donor who sponsored her adoption fee—now her new family gets to put those funds toward spoiling her forever. 🐶💝

Last night, a wonderful woman named Jennifer reached out to us on Facebook asking about sponsoring an adoption fee for one of our dogs. When speaking with her today, her kindness went even further—she didn’t just sponsor one dog, she sponsored FOUR of our amazing pups! 🐾

✨ Pinky (our beloved senior girl), Ferb, Roscoe, and Lucky all now have sponsored adoption fees thanks to Jennifer’s generosity. 🫶
