Recent training things đź–¤

Had some play time with Dez messing around with jumps for the first time and riding ba****ck and doing some obstacles- the name of the game with this girl is keeping everything relaxed, rebuilding her foundation and confidence, and working towards giving her a job and I love that her owner lets me have fun with it!

We got a new training horse Uno who is here for a tuneup, desensitizing and confidence building and put his first ride here on him 🫶🏼

We have made leaps and bounds with training horse Georgia - taking her and her owner Owen (who im doing guided training sessions with) through my ground work program and then getting first sits and first walk abouts done on her! Couldn’t be more proud and excited for and of them.

Baby training time with gypsy vanner yearling Pippin and AQHA yearling Violet. Violet just finished a training stint here and we can’t wait to have her back when she’s ready to start under saddle!

My awesome assistant Kiya and her work getting Pippin through obstacles and rides on Rory that ultimately prepped Rory to leave for her amazing new home a few days ago (as well lots of other unseen help). đź–¤

Training horse Tony got a new leaser, long time lesson client Julie, and I couldn’t be more stoked for them!

Finishing strong with a couple of cute lesson pics- the girls on Napoleon playing around while I did a lesson for my dear friend Leslie on Milkshake, and my intern Phoebe conquering the dreaded bridge on her lease horse, Miss Margo.

Fun times- can’t wait for more this coming week! Big thank you to all who trust me to do what I do 🙏🖤

Stablehand wanted 🦋

I am currently seeking stablehands for the following shifts, weekly:

Monday AM
Monday PM
Tuesday PM
Saturday AM

These shifts are offered through our working student program and get you credit towards leasing, lessons, or boarding your horse. This credit can also go off of rent for one of our RV spots that’s coming available next month (post coming soon).

I would also like 1-2 back up stable hands, this is a great option for someone who doesn’t want the weekly commitment, but would like to help out and earn credit on occasion.

Shifts include feeding and watering horses, sweeping, handling horses, cleaning stalls, feeding grain etc. AM shift appx 4 hours PM shift appx 2.5 hours (no stalls in pm).

Prefer someone with horse handling experience but also willing to train. This is an outdoor job, rain or shine, someone who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty with a good work ethic is best 🩷

“Love isn’t just an emotion. It’s co-regulation. When held in safe arms, your nervous system shifts out of fight-or-flight.

Love, in its highest form, isn’t passion. It’s presence. It’s a body that says, “You are safe with me.”

So cool!

Just a really quick post to say I absolutely love my new Home Run Hoofstand LLC!

I’ve used it every day this week and the older horses are so much more comfortable. Top photo is a PPID/dropped fetlock horse, bottom photo is an older rescue horse who came with a whole slew of past issues, and his hind end can be tricky to hold up. Both loved their trims today.

(Photos are either pre trim or unfinished trims)

Rossi’s b-day ride 🩵

Had a great time riding out in the desert with the family to celebrate this amazing girl.

Anything look off about the group pic?! We tested out a new bitless option for Herc and it fell apart right as we arrived back at the house 🤣 Also got a great shot of Bliss throwing a tantrum over the bugs. Thanks Herc’s new owners for letting us take him along! 🫶🏼

Horse expo is a wrap đź–¤

(For me at least)
I had a great time demoing at the Idaho Horse Expo on Buying Your First Horse, the stands were full and I felt like I genuinely helped some folks which is what it’s all about for me. Can’t wait for next year! Missin of course got our traditional expo snack- a 3 ft licorice rope for all her hard work. 🍭❤️

The first weekend in April tends to be a whirlwind for me because it’s always expo weekend as well as my mom’s angelversary. This year is 16 years. I like to think she would be very proud of where and who I am. It was my darling weirdo girl Caty’s 5th birthday on Friday (named after my mom), and tomorrow is Rossi’s birthday! It’s nice as I grow and time passes for this weekend to become less about the grief and more about the positives in my life now while still keeping my mom in mind. I had Tux in mind too as he helped me get my start at expo and went with me for years 🩷

Biggest thank you to all who helped me get it together and make my presentation successful, those who came to watch, the Idaho horse Council, and the Idaho horse park for making it possible.

Our Story

Coughing Cowgirl Horse Training began as CC Horse Training in Meridian, Idaho in 2012 when I noticed an overwhelming need for a natural horsemanship approach to training in the treasure valley. I had spent the last several years interning and training alongside professional horsemen and women in both New Jersey and Idaho. I got to witness many training styles, and work with a variety of horses of all breeds, disciplines, and walks of life.

Through my experiences I found my first niche in c**t starting and correcting behavioral problems. I was able to develop a program utilizing primarily natural horsemanship and least resistance training techniques; this produced willing horses, that had a solid foundation based on trust instead of fear, and were capable of going in any direction.

I wanted to maximize on not only training and caring for horses correctly, but educating owners on how to do so also. And in this, my second niche was found: Helping new and existing horse-folk navigate horse ownership. Through a program that includes lessons from the ground up, leases, pre-purchase training evaluations, and continued full care boarding and training services- I am able to coach my clients through every step of horse ownership so that they feel competent in the decisions they make in all of their equine endeavors.

We are now settled in Meridian, Idaho and offer quality horse boarding, training, riding instruction and more.
