The Humane Society of Macomb was chartered in the mid 1950's and the doors to the shelter officially opened in May of 1967. We were organized as a private, non-profit, charitable & private organization supported by individuals like you and by our own efforts of fund raising. We do not receive any govern

🌈Together Again🌈

💙Yesterday, we said "See you later" to our horse Willow.

Willow spent the past 7 years as a core team member of the Humane Society of Macomb. She came to us after a scarring past, though you would've never guessed it with her shining personality.

Willow was the highlight of many people's day and her love for snacks and nature-trail walks was unmatched.

We have comfort in knowing that Willow's best friend, Basha, was waiting patiently over the rainbow bridge for her. Though they weren't related, they were inseparable and loved each other like sisters.

Thank you to everyone who visited her, loved her, and gave her snacks. Her memory will never be forgotten. 🪽

✨We have puppies!!!!!!

💙You originally met them as the "Ben & Jerry's" litter, but we eventually changed their names to Luxury Cars!

🐾We have loved watching these guys grow and can't wait to see how they flourish in their furever homes!

🎉We have SEVEN of these babies available! They are 9 weeks old and each weigh between 12-20 pounds! These puppies are going to be BIG... we're thinking they are Mastiff mixes!

☀️June Volunteer of the Month☀️

✨Help us in congratulating our June Volunteer of the Month, Jalynn!

💙Jalynn has only been with us for a few short months, but has already put in over 80 hours of volunteering! She always goes above and beyond to follow directions closely and is ALWAYS on time! Jalynn can be seen at nearly every single one of our events and always greets people with a smiling face! We are so proud of all she has accomplished in the few short months we've known her!

🎉Thank you for being the greatest, Jalynn! We couldn't do what we do, without you!

🤪Goofy is a 3 year old energetic boy! He is full of personality, just like his name suggests! He enjoys the company of other dogs and loves all humans he meets!

🥰Echo is a 3 year old laid back girl! She loves humans and can usually be found snuggling up with her favorite people! Echo prefers calmer dogs, though she would rather just co-exist instead of play!

💙Teacher's Pet💙

✨We are already almost halfway through our Teacher's Pet session!

😍For those who aren't familiar, the Humane Society of Macomb works closely with our friends at Teacher's Pet: Dogs and Kids Learning Together ! Teacher's Pet's mission is to pair at-risk youth with shelter dogs, while changing the lives of everyone involved! The kids are each paired with their dog for 10 weeks. They spend those weeks learning "all things dog" and training their dog to be the perfect dog we know they can be!

🐾Teacher's Pet is the most heartwarming program we have, and we're so thankful for the ability to partner together.

🫧Laundry Detergent (We'll use anything- but gentle/unscented is preferred!)
🐱Cat/Kitten Wet and Dry Food!

🐶Dog Toys!

✨Items can be delivered directly to the shelter or dropped off! Donations can be dropped off Monday-Saturday 9am-6pm. Our shelter is located at 11350 22 Mile Rd, Utica 48317 MI.

Our Story

We are a community resource focused on helping those who cannot speak for themselves. We provide humane care for unwanted, abused and injured animals. We work to prevent cruelty to animals and to place adoptable pets into good, permanent homes with responsible owners. We also make every effort to return stray animals turned into the shelter to their original owners and promote spay and neutering, to prevent overpopulation through education.
