The fun of transporting! Thank you Chris and Tessa Neese for taking our Great Spirit foster dog Bonnie to our partner rescue in Phoenix today. Bonnie was rescued off an animal control euthanasia list on Tuesday for lack of space. She's an absolutely wonderful, young adult dog, easily adoptable; however, the low cost spay options in our area are booked out two or more months. Since we don't adopt a dog until it's spayed or neutered, we would have had to kept Bonnie in foster care for two or more months! With always more e-list dogs in need and very little foster space, sending Bonnie to a partner rescue helps us to save more lives. Thanks again to Chris and Tessa and all the people who have volunteered to transport for us recently! Thanks too to all of our partner rescues!

Meet Baby Blue we recently saved him from being euthanized at animal control.

Just because he's part pit bull.

We're giving Baby Blue a permanent home at the Sanctuary where he will live free for life with his soon-to-be best friends like Maisy another part pit bull.

He'll get a job and will help around the Sanctuary, receive loads of love from all of our volunteers, and play with all of our community animals.

We believe they now have the wildfire contained. We're waiting for final confirmation. No evacuations were ordered which is a good sign.

6 years ago when no area veterinarian wanted to handle we made a trip to our good friend Dr Julie 4 hours away.

She fixed his backward leg, fitted him for braces conducted numerous therapies, and taught us how to continue to strengthen his now straight leg.

Today Lucky is thriving at the Sanctuary. ❤️

Big win for Arizona’s animals! 🐾 Defense League of Arizona and Humane Voters of AZ are thrilled to announce a $500,000 budget allocation secured by Senator John Kavanagh to fund critical spay and neuter surgeries across the state!

Thanks to collaborative efforts between our dedicated volunteer lobbyists and Senator Kavanagh—who championed similar funding in 2023—this allocation will be distributed through the Arizona Spay Neuter Fund, largely supported by AZ Pet Plates https://www.azpetplates.org/.

Why it matters: 🐾Spay/neuter programs help control pet overpopulation, ease the burden on crowded shelters, and support feral cat communities. Thanks to Sen. Kavanagh's efforts, this funding will transform the lives of thousands of dogs, cats, and entire neighborhoods throughout Arizona.
