🐾✨Meet Dr. Stephens✨🐾

Dr. Lori Stephens grew up in Midland, TX, where she actively participated in 4H and FFA during high school, showing steers and evaluating horses. After completing undergraduate studies at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
Following graduation, Dr. Stephens worked in small animal general practice in San Antonio and Helotes. In 2011, she acquired her first veterinary practice, and in 2012, she expanded by purchasing a second. Owning her own business had always been a dream, and she was excited by the opportunity to build and expand a veterinary practice. Although the journey was challenging and demanded hard work, both practices flourished under her care. Her dedication and passion for the work paid off, and she found success in building a business that not only thrived but also fulfilled her personal and professional goals.
It was at this time, Dr. Stephens developed a passion for eastern medicine, completing a certification in small animal and equine acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). In 2014, she expanded her focus to equine integrative wellness and founded an equine integrative wellness clinic. Dr. Stephens continued her education, becoming certified in Equine Medical Manipulation in 2017 at Chi University. In 2019, she shifted her focus toward small animal geriatrics, integrating both Western and Eastern approaches.
December of 2024, Dr. Stephens joined Thrive New Braunfels, bringing with her a focus on integrative medicine, geriatrics and wellness care. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Stephens enjoys horseback riding, gardening, and maintaining a small farm with her wife Samantha. Dr. Stephens and Samantha have horses, mules, mini donkeys, chickens, dogs, cats, and a pig named Franklin.

🐾✨Meet Dr. Jimerson✨🐾

Dr. Karly Jimerson, originally from Houston, has had a passion for veterinary medicine from a young age. She earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish while playing Division 1 soccer at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio. She then went on to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University in May of 2020. Shortly after, Dr. Jimerson began practicing in South Texas, where she quickly developed an interest in combining traditional Western medicine with integrative therapies.
At TNB, Dr. Jimerson offers conventional veterinary care alongside integrative treatments, including herbal medicine and acupuncture. She is certified in acupuncture and is currently working towards her certification in food therapy and herbal medicine through Chi University. Dr. Jimerson is dedicated to providing the most effective care for her patients by blending both Western and Eastern approaches to ensure gentle, minimally invasive treatments for even the most complex cases.
Dr. Jimerson and her husband live in Seguin, Texas, with their children, their dog, Henry, and rabbit, Arthur. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and relaxing by the lake or river.

Kidney (or renal) disease is very common in dogs and cats, and it may be reversible or permanent based on underlying causes. The disease could be a result of age-related changes to the kidneys, acute injury or toxin ingestion, congenital defects present from birth, or in rare cases, a side effect of some medications. To prevent kidney disease or slow its progression, it's vital to stay regular with wellness visits so that together, we can monitor renal levels with blood work and urinalysis and catch any changes ASAP.

We get it: when your pet is itchy, you start to scratch, too! The good news is your pet doesn’t have to live with incessant itchiness. Learn to spot the signs, then book a visit so that together, we can discover the cause and explore options for long-lasting relief, like:

Cyptopoint®: an injectable therapy that provides 4 to 8 weeks of allergy relief with a single in-office dose. ¹ Plus, for a limited time, get $25 off when you buy 2 doses of Cytopoint. ²

Or Apoquel®: an oral medicine that can be given at home for fast relief of allergic itch.³

Warning:️ this post is about p**p! 💩 If you’ve ever wondered why you’re asked to bring in a f***l sample as part of your pet’s annual wellness exam, the answer is to check for intestinal parasites.

There are a variety of parasites that thrive inside of otherwise healthy pets, so having them routinely tested is essential to their well-being. Your pet's p**p will be checked for evidence of hookworms, roundworms, giardia, and more. 🔬
These parasites can not only make pets uncomfortable and irritable but can also lead to many more serious issues if left untreated. Several parasites can even be transmitted to people, so by having your pet’s f***s examined, you are protecting humans in your household, too!

To learn more about what intestinal parasites we test for in f***l exams, visit:
