Time for a long overdue update. My time and energy has been redirected to the rescue and the 4-H club that benefits from the use of some of the horses. Our relationship with a local facility and therapy program is over completely and our horses are all together at the rescue main farm. The Sheriff's Mounted Unit has been busy with two calls in 3 days. It seems things happen for a reason and I think the impact will be positive!!

Today we rallied and helped deliver 3 horses to safety from a private surrender situation. Big thanks to Wayne Klein , Liz Dillon and Paul Sedig for all the help. Right now as we transition, many of our rescue horses are becoming part of the Heal With A Horse program at Chance Stables. It is a beautiful opportunity for the horses to have a career in the service of many. As hay prices rise we ask that people reach out for help before the horses suffer. We will always try to find a solution. Pictures to follow over the next few days.

We have been quiet for a while settling into our new program. Three of our favorite rescue horses are making their transition to becoming therapy mounts for the Heal with a Horse program at Chance Stables.
In the past week we have been asked to take on 3 new horses as private surrenders at the rescue. Times are getting tough and with the cost of fuel and fertilizer we expect hay prices to soar. We will need support of our followers if we are going to continue this work. Volunteers will be needed for care as well as financial for vet, dental and farrier work for all the new horses. Pop can donations and Tribute feed proofs of purchase are always welcomed. Be watching for updates soon. It's about to get busy!

It has been a tough couple of weeks battling Covid. We are grateful for those who have stepped up in our absence. We have a big announcement coming at the end of the week. We hope you will be as thrilled as we are.

A couple weeks ago we took in a pony named Stormy as a private surrender. We have been a little busy but thought we would share something that we found out about Stormy.

We have the opportunity again tomorrow evening to make some more money for the rescue. We will be cleaning about 40 stalls in the horse barns at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds. We plan to start by 6:00pm. Yard rakes and snow shovels are fantastic tools for this job. We will have a few available, but you are welcome to bring your own as well. Cold beverages will be provided!

Time to do some more fund raising for the rescue. Tomorrow, Monday August 9 starting at 5:00pm we will be cleaning stalls at the fairgrounds. Each stall is worth $5.00 to the rescue. There are probably 50-60 that need to be done. We will have some equipment available, but if you come to help and have yard rakes or snow shovels, they work best to clear the shavings from the stalls. Please let me know if you are able to lend a hand. Cold beverages will be provided.

Stall cleaning fundraising opportunity starts tonight! Round 1 at 5pm and Round 2 immediately following the Mounted Unit meeting, so probably around 8:30. If you can help it's best if you bring a leaf rake or snow shovel for tools. Hope to see some friends there this evening.

Just wanted to post that our 4-H and riding club will not be having an August meeting while we finish some paperwork and clean up some details but in September we will be going back to work for the 2021-2022 season with monthly meetings and a modified focus. If you have a child that would like to participate next year please let me know. They must be at least 5 years old by January 1 to join. The 4-H club has two leaders so a maximum of 16 members and the Independent Club will run a parallel program with 2 other additional leaders. Be sure to get on my list ASAP as we may start working projects and fund raising later this month.

We will be looking for volunteers to help us clean stalls from the horse show at the county fairgrounds. We may start work this evening but most likely it'll be Tomorrow late afternoon to evening. If you're willing to help us we would greatly appreciate it as many hands make for light work. I will post a start time once I have a confirmation with our board of directors.

Looking for volunteers to work at the concession stand this weekend and to help clean stalls after the show. Please contact me directly if you are available to help. All proceeds go to benefit the rescue.

Looking for volunteers for the rescue. Duties will include stacking hay, scrubbing and filling water tanks, cleaning stalls and grooming horses. Also working at fund raisers such as stall cleaning, concession stands and pony rides. If you are interested drop me a message. We are in need of dedicated people not just people that want to pet or ride horses. We are a 7-day a week regardless of the weather operation. All volunteers will require an application and background check. So if you can't pass one don't bother.

What an incredible weekend! In the past two weeks we have really had some ups and downs but we are looking on the bright side. We have successfully rehomed a couple of horses to wonderful new families and have another one pending. The fundraiser concession stand was successful which allowed us to buy a couple loads of new hay and this morning we have been contacted about hay from two more suppliers that should be ready in the next week. Fund raising continues tonight at the fairgrounds with cleaning stalls. This will provide much needed funding to continue to buy hay and to provide some much needed dental care for a couple of our geriatric horses. Hope to see you at 6pm. Many hands will make for light, quick work.
