🐾 Help Us Build Elderleash: A Sanctuary for Senior Dogs 🐾

When a senior dog enters a shelter, their future is often heartbreakingly short. With gray muzzles and slower steps, they are the first to be overlooked and too often the first to be euthanized. Yet, these dogs have given a lifetime of loyalty and love—they deserve peace and dignity, not abandonment.

That’s why we created Elderleash, a sanctuary and adoption center dedicated to saving senior dogs and giving them the golden years they deserve. Created from our original shelter Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue where many oldies are saved, we have the chance to help even more senior dogs.

On our Berkshire Farm Sanctuary property, there is a building waiting to be transformed into a Senior Dog Sanctuary—a place where older dogs will have cozy beds, warm fireplaces, medical care, and the love they’ve been denied.

🎉The sheep barn is almost done! We have done all the work ourselves so it’s taking some time. But we would like to thank everyone who donated to help make this happen for our flock! We still need to insulate, cover walls and ceiling and get finish up the stalls and purchase stall the dreaded stall mats (heavy and expensive) Way more than we have raised. Please consider donating. A Friesian cow lies in a field, the word “paralysis” spray-painted on her back. Her legs are useless. She waits for the truck that will take her to slaughter.

For four months in 2022, photojournalist Louise Delagnes worked as a farmhand on a dairy in Victoria, Australia. The farm milked 1,000 cows twice a day. Her camera showed what the public rarely sees: mustering, feeding, dehorning, calf separation. Accidents. Disease. Death.

Life for farmed animals is blunt. Either you’re useful, or you’re not. When you’re not, you’re treated like a pallet marked “damaged goods.”
