Roundup made the list of fastest growing towns! We've definitely noticed the growth with all the awesome new families coming and bringing their pets in to see us. We have such a beautiful tight knit community, we love getting to welcome newcomers and hear why they chose our little town.

Its such a great treat when I get to see dogs that I've groomed for Rimrock Humane Society come back in for a groom with their new family! That's what happened with Ringo today. The picture on the left was his rescue groom. He was in rough shape and had to be clipped down. Today he was like a different dog, so much happier and more confident, and his coat has grown in beautifully. I got to meet the amazingly awesome couple that gave him a home. He couldnt have gotten a better family. Such a happy ending for Ringo and I love that we got to have a tiny part in it. If you're thinking about rescuing a dog do it! You change your life and theirs 💖 🐾

Sprinkles came in for a bath, brush out, belly and butt shave, and nails clipped. All he wanted to do was sit in my lap and be petted, he was so sweet!

I'd like to introduce Elroy, a new client from today. What's cool about Elroy is he's never been groomed before. His owners were understandably anxious about how he'd do and if he'd behave or get overly anxious. Because of that I blocked off extra time so we could take our time if needed and go at his pace for his first groom. Well i think that doggie smile says it all. Elroy was a Rockstar 🤩! I was able to introduce each step of the groom at a pace that he was comfortable with, and he never once got anxious. First grooms are so important because they teach the dog what to expect and therefore influence their behavior for future grooms. Elroy got to learn grooming is fun and feels good! This good boy deserves extra treats for today!

Boarding Update:
In coordination with reopening daycare, we are going to be switching boarding drop off and pick up from by appointment to windows (times listed below).

We are also switching from charging by calendar day to charging by night. If you pick up your dogs by the morning window there will be no extra charges. If you pick up by the later windows you will be charged for either a half ($20) or full ($30) day of daycare.

Thank you everyone for choosing Kindred Spirits. We have been having such a great summer caring for all your pups and are so excited about bringing daycare back!

9 months ago we made the hard decision to temporarily close daycare after Jon's injury. We are pleased to announce that we will be reopening doggie daycare on August 18th!

I wanted to share why we encourage dogs to come in on a regular schedule. This pup just looked fluffy with only a few obvious mattes. But she was actually pelted and needed to be clipped very short. We do this because we have to get the blade under the matting, we can't clip through it. Matting is more than just esthetic, it can cause and hide skin injuries, cheat grass embedded in skin, fleas and ticks, and we have to be extra careful shaving it off because it's much easier to cut the skin because of how matting pulls on it.

This is also to show why we charge more for matted dogs even when "we're just shaving it off." It takes extra time and skill to safely remove matting.

HOWEVER, we want to emphasize that our salon is a SAFE SPACE! You will NEVER be shamed for bringing a dirty, shedding, or matted dog to us. That would be like a doctor shaming you for coming in when you're sick. We are here to help and are happy to do it. We will have a caring conversation about putting your dog on a schedule to prevent this in the future. And to be honest I often don't charge extra for matting on a first visit because I want a chance to have that conversation and get the dog on a schedule.

Matting can happen to ANY of us. It's not a reflection of the love that dog receives. It can happen from lack of education about matting, incorrect information of how often a dog should be groomed (a lot of online resources give incorrect timelines on that), life circumstances or finances can cause grooming to be delayed among many other reasons.

We love what we do and are here to help you and your pets. Never be too ashamed to reach out for help! And thank you to the owner that allowed us to take and share this video to hopefully help others ❤️

P.S. the dog is happy, healthy, feeling great, and on a regular grooming schedule!

Look what arrived today! My new grooming salon!!! It still needs to be finished on the inside so we're not moving in quite yet but its arrival is another huge step forward, and it's so pretty! Can't wait to get it all set up and be grooming in it.

We wanted to share an exciting milestone with everyone: We have now been open for 2 years!!! We've grown and done so much in that time it's actually hard to believe it's only been 2 years. We've gotten to meet so many awesome people and care for so many amazing pets. And we are just getting started. We have so many big plans to continue to grow and bring the best possible pet care to Roundup, and the surrounding areas. Thank you to everyone who continues to choose us for their pet care needs, we wouldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for you!
