Bates is helping Murphy (who is a 4 year old Labradoodle) not to be reactive to other dogs and people.

Murphy has struggled for years with reactivity towards many things. People, dogs, bicycles and squirrels. We’re helping Murphy’s owner understand reactivity and what triggers her and they both are making great strides!

Meet Rooster! He’s an adorable 9 week old German Shorthaired Pointer. He’s staying with us for a puppy board and train while his owners are out of town.

Roosters owners wanted to make sure that he was continuing his potty training and crate training while they were gone.

It didn’t take long for Rooster to settle in and feel at home! Rooster is a spunky lil guy with lots of energy and I can’t wait to watch this lil guy grow up into a well balanced dog.

CCA’s newest board and train is here! Meet Baker! He’s a 4 1/2 year old Boxer.

Baker is a bundle of love and basically just a giant puppy. He has trouble settling down and taking no cues from other dogs, as well as respecting their boundaries and understanding their body language.

Baker gets extremely over stimulated when he sees other people and dogs and this has left his owner feeling helpless. His owner would love to walk Baker around the neighborhood but they live downtown and this has become daunting. Because of how overly stimulated he gets he’s been kicked out of other boarding and daycare facilities.

Let’s go Baker!! We got this! Time for the Bates and Raechel special 😁.

Goose would like to wish everyone a happy Monday!!

This sweet boy is a 5 month old Labrador Retriever. Goose is already excelling in his puppy exposure, he’s Mr. Social but with that being said, he thinks everyone he see’s wants to great him. We’ve been working on how to politely great people because jumping isn’t acceptable 😂. Goose has also learned door manners, down, recall, loose leash walking, not to counter surf and to not demand bark.

This boy is a SUPER smart and I can’t wait to see his GLOW up ⭐️. Keep up the fantastic work team!!

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a volunteer dog trainer for a nonprofit organization called Vets to Vets where I help pair up veterans with dogs and help veterans train their dogs to become service dogs. Lexi and her owner were one of my teams that graduated last year. Lexi has fallen very ill and her owner cannot afford the medical costs. Any amount would be greatly appreciated! This little dude finished his board and train here with us and rocked it! This is Gordon he’s a 5 month old Golden Retriever and has a TON of energy and didn’t know how to settle.

Gordon also recently started to resource guard bones and was not wanting to listen to his owners. He’s extremely smart…a little TOO smart 😆.

Gordon is doing fantastic with listening and is very eager to please! So proud of you little buddy!

It’s time for Kevin to fly the coop today. He’s been with us for a week of board and train working on basic commands. This lil guy has had a rocky past, someone dropped him off at Crabtree mall because they didn’t want him anymore. Despite that, he’s a friendly happy go lucky dog that especially loves other dogs. Kevin is a very high energy dog that does get naughty if he doesnt have the proper outlets such as socializing with other dogs, daily walks, and training sessions. When you mix all of that together he’s a well behaved lil guy! Proud of you Kev!

Say hello to adorable Pancake! She’s a 5 year old French Bulldog. She may cute as can be but that’s what let her to coming to me for a board and train. Don’t let your cute pups fool you!

Pancake has learned she’s able to run the show in her home. Because her owners thought she was oh so adorable they let that get in the way of placing boundaries and structure with Pancake. Which now has lead to Pancake being a severe resource guarder.

Pancake has bitten her owners multiple times when she doesn’t want to do something or if she has something she has claimed as hers. The biting had gotten so bad that the owners have had to use over mits to pick her up to get her to go into the crate.

The owners recently had a baby and became terrified that Pancake would become even more out of control or potentially bite the baby if the baby tried to take something away from Pancake.

Pancake has been doing a board and train for a little over 2 weeks and she has adjusted so well. She’s learned her place in my pack and that it’s not just the Pancake show. She has made tremendous progress with her resource guarding and has been listening so well. I’m really proud of the lil potato! Can’t wait to see her progress 2 weeks from now!

It’s an honor to be able to work with Vets to Vets United and help veterans train their dogs to become service dogs. So stoked that they chose my boy Bates for the WRAL news article picture!!

Vets to Vets United pairs military veterans with rescue dogs to enhance the quality of life for both hero and hound. For over a decade this important organization has been saving lives and creating life-changing bonds of friendship.
