DogDude™️ is hosting a combination Rattlesnake Avoidance and Toad Avoidance class right here in Anthem!

“My dog dashes out the open door!”
That’s one of the most common complaints I hear. The good news? There’s a simple training method to fix it.

✅ Step 1: Keep your dog on a leash. This prevents any chance of them bolting.
✅ Step 2: Begin opening the door in tiny increments. If your dog stays seated, mark and reward that good decision.
✅ Step 3: If they start to break position, calmly say “uh-uh” (a negative marker) and close the door. Closing the door denies them the reward they want most in that moment: access to the outside.

Dogs quickly learn that the only way to earn the reward is to keep their butt on the floor until they hear your release cue.

Repeat patiently, and your dog will soon understand: waiting calmly gets them what they want—rushing out the door does not.
