You can plan the day out but sometimes plan changes and you end up with a better day.

We had a PT appointment with Lisa G Bedenbaugh for both Emma and Epic at the Circle of Friends Dog Agility, LLC NADAC trial this morning, but my afternoon plan got canceled so I made an impromptu decision to make use of our time there to let Kanga Epic have a taste of an agility trial ring environment.

Thank you Diane Driscoll for answering my thousand questions on ring rules, Rita Pollio Pikor for encouraging me to go out and try, and Circle of Friends Dog Agility for your most hospitable trial, especially for newbie dogs!

Epic’s first FEO (Training in the ring) Wins:
- warm up routine was fantastic all the way to the ring gate
- first time doing agility at another location outside of our own backyard
- first time running on dirt surface
- first time seeing a full standard course set up including the A Frame and the hoops
- first time doing agility with ring crew around

While my handling was slow and late due to my sprained toe, I am 💯 pleased with our wins and the fun we had! 🦘🐕 🦘

Back in the day I wouldn’t know what or how to piece the obedience exercises together so we can see what the dog’s state of mind was without any reinforcements or rewards for minutes after minutes, exercise after exercise long… We learn from failures and from others, including Emma teaching me.

Today was all about seeing how Epic feels without any rewards after a few exercises.
By the time she received her first reward it was 9:30 into the video, including mistakes and some re-do’s. Bonus-Emma wanted to join in the fun too!

Going to a new venue to compete is always an added factor towards your team’s training. Morgan said no problem for him, he came home with a First Place and his first leg to his Jumpers with Weaves Excellent Class yesterday in Pendleton, SC. Congratulations!!!

Suri the young Aussie is back in the Rally ring! She braved the cold, waited way over 4 hours in between two trials, and nailed her runs today with Mom at the Winter Wonderland Cluster. They earned their first leg to Rally Intermediate with a score of 93, Second Place and a first leg to their Rally Advance Class with a score of 94 and First Place. Congratulations Hohyun!

Steering this 🏎️ Epic Kanga 🦘 is very different than steering Emma. It takes a lot of reps practicing my timing, movement, speed and brain power spitting words out of my mouth at the right time so she could respond better.

Thanks to Loretta Mueller and her amazing (I mean world class amazing) coaching, we are G.R.O.W.I.N.G!

Weave weave weave! This was Epic’s first time seeing handler motion while on 6 straight poles. Having so much fun teaching this Kangaroo. 🦘 🐕

These sisters had a great two days at the AKC agility trial this past weekend. Hope earned her Jumpers With Weaves Open title and two legs to her Excellent Standard Class. Sister Sara also nailed her runs with two legs and her Novice Standard Preferred Class title. Super proud of them!
