Hopping on this silly little trend!!!

It’s so easy to fall into the day-to-day and forget to pause & acknowledge how far you’ve come. And it’s even easier to constantly critique yourself and think about how you can be doing mooore… (If you know me, you know I have a new idea every day. very seldom do they come to fruition 🤣)

I took this picture when I was still living at home, about 2 months before moving to OC without much of a plan. It’s now been over 3 years (!?!) of owning Born Good, and I’m pretty f*ckin’ proud that I stopped doubting myself and now I get to help the coolest people and their dogs live their best lives together. In a rad little town, too!

My life has always revolved around dogs ~
volunteering at my local vet as a 12 year old, working in dog daycare/boarding facilities, shadowing “purely positive” trainers then having my eyes opened to how amazing balanced dog training is, interning at the MD SPCA, walking dogs in the summers to fund living in Costa Rica in winters in my early 20s ~
but for some reason being my own boss and being successfully self-employed just always seemed like something that was out of reach for myself.

My advice to any 20something who’s feeling stuck or unhappy - take the risk, move to a different country, start your own side gig, quit your job that you don’t like!!! Lol (don’t take advice from me)

BERLIN. Keep you eyes peeled for Titan - tricolor Aussie. Sweet as can be, dont chase him but get low/or call his name and run AWAY from him (he may chase to you!)
Got out off Main St and Austin Circle around 3 am chasing a bunny. Sitings at Decatur park and main Berlin parking lot across from 410 Social. Call or msg me if you see him!

We all know that setting New Year’s resolutions can feel daunting… Instead of pressuring yourself to stick to unattainable resolutions — try to set a couple FAIR goals that make you feel excited, not stressed out! 🤍

This was such a calm & well mannered group of dogs — being able to get together with other dog friends who have worked hard on their training & have nice leash manners is so rewarding for both you & your dog.🫶🏼

Working with dogs over the past decade, I’ve grown to be so passionate about not just their behavioral needs, but also their holistic wellness. Learning to fully understand their physical, mental & emotional needs, by looking at the whole dog. This starts with feeding our dogs species appropriate diets; in order to prevent diseases and increase overall health, well-being, and longevity.

Canines are facultative carnivores - which means they require a prey-based diet that is rich in nutrients from meat, organs, bones, hide, and connective tissues! Feeding our dogs real food that they don’t just survive on, but that helps them to thrive & live the longest, healthiest lives possible. Even adding small amounts of fresh, real food to your current foods can make a HUGE difference in the long run.

I can’t recommend this course enough to anyone in the pet industry wanting to expand their knowledge — veterinary professionals who are interested in learning about nutrition, behaviorists/trainers, groomers, etc! There’s also a Dog Food Basics Course for pet parents who want to better understand their dog’s anatomy, gut microbiome, and just overall wellbeing - and take the leap to begin feeding real food to their fur babes!

If you are new to the world of feeding your dogs fresh food, “The Forever Dog, LIFE” book, by Dr. Karen Becker & Rodney Habib, has amazing ideas to start making some treats, meal toppers, etc. to get your foot in the door!

(Never switch your dog to a raw/homemade diet without working alongside a professional nutritionist! So much more goes into creating balanced dog meals & unfortunately you can’t only simply toss some meat and veggies in your crockpot 😉 If you are interested in consulting with a veterinary nutritionist, reach out and I’m happy to send some amazing references your way!)

Been playing around with some trick training🌟
Teaching your dogs some fun, complex behaviors is a great way to work your dog’s brain & give them more challenging mental stimulation!

Key word here is FUN - this type of activity should always be in short bursts of training, with LOTS of patience and rewards.
