Gus is a fun loving, handsome 3 ½ year old male basset who has been in foster care starting in the beginning of April, when his owner of only 6-8 months had to surrender him due to their illness. You can learn more about him at GGBR.org under Available Bassets.

Golden Gate Basset Rescue is thrilled to invite our donor members, foster homes, adopters, and special guests, to our annual Spring Fling picnic. This is a fun-filled event celebrating the joy of basset hounds. The picnic will feature basset games, including hot dog bobbing, musical mats, and a contest for the longest ears, ensuring an entertaining day for all.

This is a wonderful chance to connect with fellow basset hound enthusiasts, make new friends, and create unforgettable memories with your family and pets. The hounds can run free and play together in a double-gated, fenced garden area in Mt. Aukum, CA. And, of course, celebrate our basset moms during this special weekend!

Six-year-old Mosho is a friendly, happy boy. He came from a home with children. Because Mosho tends to jump on people, which could frighten, or knock over a very young child, Mosho is recommended for older children, or adults.

Mosho is an adept and determined counter-surfer, which his foster home is working on. He gets along well with other dogs of his size, or larger. He does not seem to like small dogs and can get stressed in situations with too many dogs, such as a busy dog park. He walks nicely on a leash and is a great car traveler. He is not good with cats, chickens or other small animals.

Mosho would be great with older kids or an older couple. He would be fine in a home with a doggie playmate of his size, or larger, or as an only dog.

Cleo is a 5 1/2 year old female basset. Initially timid, Cleo has really warmed up and has become more outgoing in her foster home.

Cleo came from a home with children, but because Cleo tends to jump on people, which could frighten, or knock over a very young child, she is recommended for older children, or adults. Her previous owner said that Cleo gets along well with other dogs, but she should be separated if offering “high-value” treats, such as bones. Cleo would be fine in a home with a doggie playmate, or as an only dog, and she is house trained.

Fritz, one of a litter of four that was surrendered to a shelter, is a 10-month-old mix. Most likely, he is a basset and lab mix which we call a bassador. He has a good disposition, gets along well with other dogs and people. He is happy, loves to play with his toys, and can even sort of play fetch! He walks very nicely with an occasional sniff-stop, but never pulling or lunging. He loves to play with water and has been friendly with all the kids he has met so far. He rides well in the car, but should be tethered to keep him in the backseat area.

Mosho, 6 years, and Cleo, 5 1/2 years, were surrender together but do not need to be an adopted pair.
