This is Dr. Jean Dodds' current vaccine schedule, which I have just started to follow. She is more conservative than many holistic vets whom I follow (who limit their vaccine schedule even more). This differs from my current schedule, because she only suggests two DPV vaccines one at 8-10 weeks and another at 12-14 weeks, followed by a Parvo Vaccine (only) at 16-18 weeks. Many vets have discontinued the 14-month DPV booster, which she says is optional. She does recommend delaying the Rabies vaccine as long as possible. The worst vaccine for reactions according to Dr. Ron Schulz is Leptospirosis ( one I tell all my puppy families to NEVER get), followed by Rabies!

The PURR Act of 2025 is back in Congress—and it could change pet food regulation as we know it. On the surface, creating one federal system might sound like progress. But hidden in the fine print are risks that could impact transparency, safety, and your right to know what’s in your pet’s food. If passed, this bill could:
1. Remove state oversight in favor of full federal control with even poorer engagement.
2. Permit vague ingredient labels using “and/or” statements
3. It will make it harder for pet parents to identify exactly what they’re feeding
What’s at stake isn’t just regulation—it’s trust, safety, and accountability in the pet food industry. If you don't know who your Congressman is, I will put the link below.

Please oppose H.R. 597, the “Pet Food Uniform Regulatory Reform Act of 2025.” This bill benefits large pet food companies, not consumers or pets. It weakens oversight by removing state authority, allows vague and misleading ingredient labels, and fast-tracks new ingredients without adequate safety review.
Pet owners deserve transparency and high safety standards, not less accountability. Please vote NO on H.R. 597.

So to me most kibble sucks. And this study from the Journal of Animal Science proves it. 40 popular dog foods listed blueberries in their ingredients, and barely any were found when tested because of the high heat used to form the kibble. I never ask you to believe me; I will always try to put the studies below so you can read for yourself. Feed your dogs fresh/frozen blueberries.

Cooking for your dog doesn't have to be difficult. Adding root vegetables to their food is a great way to give them the beneficial microbes they need for a healthy gut. We have local farms around us, so i like to go get fresh local Sweet Potatoes when i can. I pop them in the oven and bake them. Then I mash them up (add a little water) and scoop them into ice trays. After they are frozen, I pop them into a freezer bag, and take out a 3-day supply.

I came across this video and needed to share. Dr. Eric Berg is a well-known chiropractor and nutritionist who specializes in human health, not dog health. However, in this video, he does a deep dive into the BAD ingredients that you should look for in your dog's food. He also explains that kibble dog foods are 48% carbohydrates, which turn to sugar in your dogs! Sugar leads to diabetes, pancreatitis, autoimmune diseases, and cancers. He also discusses the 4 D's proteins in most dog foods: Dead, Diseased, Dying, & Disabled dogs. He also explains why they are now finding high levels of pentobarbital in dog foods. Pentobarbital is used to euthanize diseased and dying dogs. This is further proof that they are using animals (including Road Kill, Zoo Animals, etc) in dog food. Please check the ingredients in your dog food. I will put the video below.

It might seem like a great idea to pour dog kibble from the original bag into a plastic container - but it’s actually one of the most common mistakes dog owners make. Plastic containers or bins draw oil and fats from the kibble, causing it to oxidise and go stale much quicker. Once opened, kibble should be used within 6-8 weeks. You can buy in bulk to save money by freezing what you won't use up in a couple of months into freezer bags.
All dog foods vacuum packs their bags for freshness, and it protects the food. Remember: Dog food starts to go bad the minute it is opened. The essential oils will go rancid first, and you can't smell it, but your dog can.

You are probably very familiar with the names of the top 10! WHY? They spend all their money on Advertising! If they are NOT using Human-Grade Food, what are they using? ANSWER: FDA APPROVED Decomposing, Dead, & Diseased Animals! If I TOLD YOU THAT McDonald's (to save money) decided to start using Decomposing, Dead, & Diseased Cows, would you still eat there? Would you take your children there? But it's OK for your dogs to eat decomposing, dead & diseased animals? If you can find your dog food on this list, you need to consider changing. WHO IS NOT ON THE LIST? SMALL BATCH, GREEN JUJU, and the other 44 HUMAN GRADE DOG FOODS ON SUSAN THIXTON'S LIST. WHY? BECAUSE THEY DON'T ADVERTISE, THEY SPEND THEIR MONEY ON THE DOG FOOD!
