What's my favorite thing to teach? E-collar language all day every day! When taught as a language. It's not about high-level correction, it's about low-level communication. The way I train it takes time because the dog has to learn it, it's introduced with treats and easy work and at a level a human can't feel. Every dog is different, and I enjoy figuring out their working level.
I love to teach it so I can get texts like this 💕

One of these guys got their CGC, one of them yells at the neighbors and the other one likes the outdoors 😁.. Yeager is a future SAR dog on his way to the big leagues. Wish them luck for their up coming national certification!

Many years ago, a trainer asked me if I worked for free, and I said 'NO". She said, "Why should your dog?" Since that day, I stopped thinking they should just know better and not need treats. I was at Home Depot tonight with Wilson, he is 10.5 years old and pretty perfect if you ask me 😊. I always have treats, I give them to him when he sits when I stop, when he lays down and waits for me, after saying hi to someone, after passing an obnoxious dog and just for being so good. He deserves to be paid for doing his job. I rarely have to ask him to sit or down he knows when to do it, I am not bribing him, I am paying him for doing the thing. There is no reason to fade treats. Of course, if I don't have them, he will do volunteer work and he is fine.
Secondly, I often get told that they like the way my dogs pay attention to me when we walk... you want to know why? I pay them, I will always pay them, there is no reason not to.

4 1/2 years of age is his magic age. Relationships take time, with patience and consistency, it pays off. Now it's time we start doing something together as a team! Time to set goals.
Most of the time, a dog matures around 2 or 3. When Bruce seemed impossible and I lay awake at night wondering wtf I did, I read the Czech GSDs mature the slowest. I have put in a lot with him, I LOVE what I have now. He reads me as well as I read him.
Be patient, be consistent, have clear boundaries, be consistent, set criteria and hold to it, be consistent.. 😁

Dear dog owners... your dog should not be off leash if it:
A. Blows you off
B. Would rather chase an animal then come back
C. It runs up to other dogs and people rather than come back to you. Especially on leash dogs.

This has been happening too often to my responsible clients and many other people. Guess what I am telling them? Carry pepper spray and protect your dog. Don't feel bad if you have to use it. I tell all my clients to always put themselves between the rude dog and their dog, sometimes its not enough.
I do not understand this epidemic of dog owners who think their dog should be off leash in public spaces, guess what? From the first time they take off after a bunny they learn that is way more fun than you are and its reinforced in their minds. If your dog see dogs as playmates and runs up to dogs on leash, your dog has POOR socializing and is going to get hurt someday.
#1 most important thing you should do as a pet owner...
KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE! Protect your dog.
Use a long line, it may be obnoxious but its far better than being hit by a car or pepper sprayed.

Do your dogs have access to clean water? I bought this 2-gallon petsafe water fountain many years ago (i have 4 dogs). I like that it's easy to clean and it's all dishwasher safe. The water tube comes apart, the filters are replaced, and I can take the pump apart and wash it out. I clean it once a week. We refill it at least once a day. It makes me feel good to know they drink that much water.
Just like us, hydration plays a huge role in our health. With summer coming, I want hydration to be on your mind. ☀️
