Sweet feed is trash.
I get it! Horses aren’t cheap. You think “well if my goats and cows can eat it… then why can’t my horses!?” NEWS FLASH!!! Just because it has a horse on the bag doesn’t mean you should feed it to your horses.
So let me break it down for you:
1. Horses have COMPLETELY different digestive systems. Horses have what’s called a hind-gut fermenters. Meaning they can’t digest what ruminants can. (CORN🤮)
2. Extremely high in sugar and starch which can (and will) lead to ulcers. As well as increasing the risk of colic and laminitis.
3. Does not support any sort of muscle recovery, development, or long term stamina (sugar crash- just like your toddler when they go stay at grandmas😵💫)
4. Absolutely no vitamin or mineral balance. Sweet feed may have a few vitamins but balance is key! Or you might as well start giving them flinstone gummies.
5. Incorrect fat and fiber levels, so even if they look fat and happy, they are missing all the right nutrients.

In conclusion, if you want a performance horse, you have to understand what it takes to keep one healthy. Do your research!! Google the labels!! Sweet feed is a “one size fits none” solution!
