Wow—after this past weekend’s show, I walked away with a head full of new knowledge and an even longer list of things I still want to learn! 🐐💡

Shows move so fast, and there’s rarely time to pause and really dive into the why behind structure, attachments, and those pesky undesirable or disqualifying traits.

Recently, I stumbled across Kopf Canyon Ranch, LLC, a Kiko breeder out of Idaho, while not necessarily dairy, I’m seriously impressed. They share a TON of educational content.

If you’re a goat nerd like me and want to go beyond just showing—digging into the “why” behind the oral reasons definitely give them a follow! 🧠📚

🍼🐐 Nap Time with the Kids! 🐐🍼
Did you know baby goats are called kids? These little ones love to snuggle together for warmth, comfort, and a sense of safety—especially during nap time!

👉 Fun Facts about Baby Goats:
• Kids can stand and walk just minutes after birth—talk about fast learners!
• They’re super social and thrive in groups, just like you see here.
• Baby goats begin nibbling on hay and grain within the first week of life, even though they’ll continue nursing for a few months.
• Their playful energy and curiosity help them develop coordination and confidence.

Whether they’re jumping, playing, or napping like this cuddly pile, goats bring so much life to the barn. 🐾💤

Kidding Season 2025 — That’s a Wrap! 🐐🎉

We officially wrapped up our kidding season on May 29th, and what a season it was! Out of 58 beautiful kids born, only 4 needed assistance — a true blessing and testament to healthy does and smooth deliveries. 🙌

30 does kidded, with mostly twins and singles, which helped keep numbers more manageable compared to past years. We’re grateful for an overall easy season, and seeing all those happy, healthy babies on the ground is the best reward!

Now it’s time to look ahead… Breeding season kicks off early this year on July 1st! We’re already prepping and excited to see what 2026 will bring. 💫

Stay tuned for updates, and thanks for following along on our goat adventures! 🐐💕

Spring Has Sprung — Time to Prep Your Goats for the Season!

As the days get warmer and pastures start to green up, it’s the perfect time to check in on your herd’s health and get ahead of seasonal changes. Here are a few springtime must-dos for happy, healthy goats:

1. Hoof Trimming:
Wet spring ground = fast-growing hooves. Regular trims help prevent hoof rot and lameness.

2. Parasite Management:
With warmer weather comes higher parasite risk. Check fecals, rotate pastures, and plan your deworming protocol.

3. Coat Check & Grooming:
Brush out winter coats and check for signs of lice or mites. A clean goat is a happy goat!

4. Vaccinations & Boosters:
Now’s a great time to update CDT shots and other vaccines recommended by your vet.

5. Pasture Prep:
Inspect fencing, remove toxic plants, and make sure fresh water is easily accessible.

6. Kidding Season Readiness (if applicable):
Have your kidding kit prepped, stalls clean, and supplies ready for new arrivals!

Spring is one of the best times to be a goat owner—longer days, green grass, and new energy all around. Treat your herd to a fresh start!

Ever heard a goat “talk” to you? Then you’ve probably met a Nubian!

Known for their long floppy ears and even bigger personalities, Nubian goats are some of the most affectionate and vocal members of the herd. They love attention, follow you around like puppies, and aren’t shy about letting you know when it’s feeding time!

If you’re thinking of adding goats to your homestead or hobby farm, Nubians are a fantastic choice for both milk and companionship.

They thrive with:
• Daily interaction (they love people)
• Secure fencing (they’re curious and clever!)
• Plenty of forage and fresh water

Once you’ve had a Nubian in your life, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without one.

Did you know Nubian goats produce some of the richest, creamiest milk of all goat breeds?
With a butterfat content of 4–5%, it’s perfect for making thick, tangy yogurt, smooth chèvre and feta, luxurious handmade soaps, and a rich glass of milk you’ll actually look forward to.

Whether you raise goats or just appreciate quality dairy and natural products, Nubian goat milk is truly something special.

Save this post if you’re a fan of farm-fresh living and rustic goodness!

What do you do when your in the middle of milking and a FF kids and wants nothing to do with said children?
Give them to Lady in Red. She’ll baby sit and clean them up while you finish milking.
