WEC SUMMER II
🦄Citori secured a reserve champion ribbon in the 1.0 with only showing in 2/3 classes. He was the fastest time in the power and speed by 5 seconds and was jumping like he was allergic to wood!
🦄KSE ORosalita and James Kelleher earned a well deserved champion ribbon in the .65 classes. This was their debut show together and he rode some of the best lines and turns of the day. He learned that It's not about being the fastest, it's about making an effective and efficient plan.

Gracie is an incredibly fun ride, and will make someone the most competitive upper level pony! She boasts all the qualities needed in an upper level dressage partner. She has an excellent work ethic and is easy to manage in the barn. She is super safe and has a trainable, forward thinking brain to go with her FEI quality gaits. She is sensibly sensitive and prefers a confident rider to give her a job to do. She has never offered any naughty behaviors under saddle, and is excellent on the ground. She stands nicely tied and is good to clip, groom, and bath. She has clean legs and solid feet. She is up to date on everything and is good for the farrier and vet. She is not on any supplements or maintenance and is a very easy keeper. Unfortunately she is still green in the sense that she has not seen much of the world and lacks a show record for her age. This is at no fault of her own. She was purchased as a youngster from her breeder, and horse showing was never a priority to her past owner. She recently attended her very first horse show at the National Dressage Pony Cup and scored competitively at the biggest dressage show in the US. She took on the electric atmosphere like an old pro, and only had a handful of green, distracted moments in her tests. This mare wants so badly to bond with a human, and will really excel with someone who wants a forever pony. She is scheduled to do her MPT this August for the brand new pony book that the American Hanoverian Society offers, and would also make an incredible addition to someone's breeding program! I currently also ride her full sister who is quite identical inside and out.

Flirty is a solid well trained all around mare that would be a suitable fit for many riders. Her gaits are flashy and easy to ride and she has a soft snaffle mouth. She is not a kick ride, but nice and responsive to your leg. She would be the perfect move up horse for a 4H kid coming off of a pony, or an AA who wants to pack around the lower levels of eventing, dressage, or hunter jumpers. She trail rides alone or in a group and is keen to trail obstacles. She would also excel under western tack as a ranch type horse. Flirty has excellent gound manners and is easy to live with in the barn with no vices. She ground ties, cross ties, and ties with no issue. She is good to bathe and clip, and she is good for the farrier and vet. She prefers to be turned out with geldings or alone with close sight of other horses.

Lizzie is going to make someone the most amazing all around type sport horse. She has one of the most trainable brains and is very easy going. We pony our youngsters all over the farm, and she in particular really loves her outings. She stands tied for grooming, clipping, baths, vet, and farrier care and is incredibly personable. She is currently learning how to ware a sursingle and is progressing well. She has no stable vices and has grown up outside with a herd of youngsters. Her full sister was the top filly in the Westfalen futurity boasting an overall score of 8.3. Pictured below from left to right Nuno(damsire)- Beau Balou(sire)- Northern Gem PWR(dam)

Have you ever been told to not allow a hot, sweaty horse to drink cold water because it could lead to colic, founder or tie up?

This notion is actually a myth, and a dangerous one too, because it could lead to dehydration and very serious (and real) consequences. A sweaty, hardworking horse needs to be rehydrated without delay (i.e. don’t wait for the horse to cool down first).

The key, however, is to know how much water to allow at one time — because of the equine stomach’s relatively small capacity, offer small amounts of water every 20 minutes until the horse drinks his fill rather than letting the animal drink it all at once.

Remember that water is the most vital nutrient for a horse. A horse’s daily water requirements are influenced by many factors, but the average idle 1,100-pound horse in a cool environment will drink 6 to 10 gallons of water per day. That amount may easily double or triple in a hot environment! Therefore, it goes without saying that providing cool, clean water to your horses at all times is of paramount importance.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO TELL IF YOUR HORSE IS IN DISTRESS?

As a horse owner, it's imperative you know how to recognize problems and respond promptly. It's important to know what conditions require veterinary attention, and how to take appropriate action while you're waiting for the veterinarian's arrival.

Types of emergencies you and your horse may encounter on your journey together include colic; lacerations and bleeding wounds; impaled objects or nails in the foot; acute lameness due to conditions ranging from hoof abscess to fractures, laminitis, tendon injuries and more; eye injuries; allergic reactions; choke; and even foaling emergencies.

No matter what you may face in the future, getting to know your horse's normal vital signs (including temperature, pulse and respiration) as well as its normal behavior patterns will help you become a good observer, so that you readily recognize signs of ill health. Being prepared is in your horse's best interest.

Always remember, your veterinarian is one of your best resources. Talk to them about how they can be reached after-hours, and about recommendations for an emergency plan suitable for your individual situation.

Super productive rides with Janet Foy this week on both Bo and Reba. I really felt like we accomplished so much in two days with great homework to keep chipping away at. I'm so so so excited to trot down center line again with these two 💃 big thanks to Heidi Kohl for opening up her farm for such incredible educational opportunities 🥰🦄

Thrilled to death with how Lisa's two horses laid down 3 solid phases last weekend at Loch Moy. 🦄Gilded Reward moved up and debuted in her first novice and finished on her 31.0 dressage score. The test was far from perfect but we know what we need to work on to get back into the 20s. She jumped around like an absolute machine and asked not one question on cross country. She was 5th out of 12 in our open division.
🦄Nickel Nickle attended his very first horse show and gained so much confidence within each phase. It was the first time he's seen that many horses in one spot and tried very hard to be the best boy. He made easy work out of the starter fences and finished on his dressage score of 35.3. There is a ton of room for improvement in the dressage, starting with relaxation, but it will all come in time. This horse is going to be so so cool. I can't wait to see what his future holds. He finished 5th out of 10 in our open division.
