Goodbye to the babies Teddy Bear Pet Care has lost over the last 9 months. Rei was the first to go, then Luna a few months after, and now Mr. Tubbs has crossed the rainbow bridge. Our hearts are heavy, but they all lived wonderful lives and got the best we could give them. It's such a special thing to love and care for an animal. Never take it for granted.

In these hot summer months, it’s important to take fire safety seriously! Today is National Pet Fire Safety Day and we here at Teddy Bear Pet Care want to share a few tips from us to you about proper fire safety for your pets.

Regular fire safety tips apply here, don’t leave unattended open flames or hot items, and remember that carelessness can cause fires. We also recommend having an exit plan in case of fire emergencies, including making sure that pet carriers are easily accessible for a quit exit. Of course, you should also have safety precautions such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets in your home in case of emergencies.

We also recommend getting a sticker to put outside of your house that will alert firefighters to the presence of animals in your home in the case of a fire. Most vets or animal stores should have these kinds of stickers, but if not, we’re also including links to where you can purchase some stickers for your home.

This 4th of July, make sure you're taking care of your pets during a time that can be loud, overwhelming, and confusing! Here are some tips from our Teddy Bear team to you:

1. Keep your pets inside away from loud noises to prevent from being frightened

2. If nervous, use things like ThunderShirts or animal shirts/sweaters to provide comfort

3. Make sure your pet has taken any prescribed anxiety medication or CBD to relax

4. Take to a quiet room or safe space and put on the TV, music, or visuals/sounds to distract

5. Give a distracting or calming treat. Particularly good ones include chewables and frozen treats

6. Make sure your pet has a collar and tags on just in case they happen to get lost

7. Give your pet lots of snuggles and reassurances during this time!
