Official Statement Regarding the Two Dogs in Our Care
To address negative and deliberately misleading information being circulated, this will be the only statement we issue on this matter.
Our rescue accepted custody of the two dogs at the request of the shelter due to documented medical and behavioral concerns. Our organization agreed to intervene in order to ensure the dogs received appropriate care, evaluation, and placement in the most responsible and ethical manner.
As part of this process, we are actively attempting to locate the original owner. Should no owner come forward, priority placement will be extended to 2 individuals who had previously expressed interest in adoption. We have already reached out to both parties and will continue to do so. These individuals will be offered the opportunity to foster during the evaluation phase and adopt following completion of all behavioral assessments and medical care. In recognition of their prior interest and the needs of the dogs, adoption fees will be waived.
Both dogs were transferred to our rescue intact by the shelter. In accordance with our established policies, both dogs will be neutered prior to any adoption being finalized.
A professional behavioral assessment conducted by the shelter determined that the dogs are not bonded. It was specifically documented that the larger dog exhibits dominant behavior that negatively affects the smaller dog. Based on this evaluation, it has been recommended that the dogs not be placed together, as separate homes will best support their comfort, safety, and long-term well-being.
Our sole priority is, and will continue to be, the best interest of the animals entrusted to our care. We are committed to making all decisions based on their health, safety, and emotional welfare. We appreciate the community’s patience and support as we follow the proper, ethical, and legal procedures to ensure the most responsible outcome for these dogs
