She cut a deep chunk out of her leg—and we have no idea how.

What we do know is how hard it fought not to heal.
Infection. Bleeding. Multiple vet visits.
It was serious… and scary.

But we kept showing up. And today?
She’s thriving.
She’s healing.
She’s almost back to herself again.

We haven’t shared this journey until now because honestly—it was overwhelming.

But this moment, right here? This is what matters.

America is one of our therapy horses. She’s not a rescue.
But she’s a part of this mission—and this recovery was possible because of you.

Thank you for standing with us.

And thank you for giving her a chance to heal.

Learn more about our mission at Warhorse Liberation.
We rescue horses, offer free therapy for veterans, and keep showing up—no matter what.

I haven’t shared much lately—because truthfully, I’ve been overwhelmed.
Life has been a lot, and updates kept getting pushed to the side.

But this moment? It says everything.
America is healing beautifully. She’s relaxed, content, and loving her breakfast hay.

We’ve been managing her injury behind the scenes, and I’m finally catching my breath enough to bring you back into the loop. Thank you for your patience, your support, and for sticking with us even when things go quiet.

This mission means the world to me—and this girl? She reminds me why we keep going.

Enjoy the munchy ASMR. 💛

Disagreement is normal. Celebrating death is not.

At Warhorse Liberation, we work every day to help humans and horses heal from trauma, pain, and emotional dysregulation.

But what we’ve witnessed online in the past 24 hours… isn’t healing.

When people cheer the death of someone simply because they didn’t agree with their views, it’s not a political issue. It’s a mental health issue. It’s a sign of how burned out, reactive, and disconnected we’ve become.

Dehumanizing others—even those we strongly disagree with—erodes the very fabric of compassion that healing is built on. And when we lose compassion, we all lose.

The truth is, grief is grief. And two children are now growing up without their father. A wife is now a widow and single mother. That matters, regardless of where you stand politically.

We need more space for hard conversations. More respect across disagreement. And more resources to address the real issue: untreated trauma and the nervous system collapse happening across this country.

Our mission has always been about healing—not just for our horses, but for the humans who walk through our gates. Let’s be a place that reflects the world we want to live in: one with empathy, dignity, and space to disagree—without violence.

She used to run from people.
Now she leans in for love.

This was Ruby’s first time letting someone love on her freely. No ropes. No pressure. Just trust.

And the most incredible part?
It was one of our veterans who helped her take that step.

This moment means everything—because Ruby wasn’t just scared of people when she arrived… she was fighting to survive. Severely underweight. Recently weaned. Scared of everything.

She’s still cautious. But today, she said “yes” to healing.

🫶 This is the power of equine-assisted connection. When veterans who carry invisible wounds meet horses with visible ones… something shifts.

This is why we do what we do.

At Warhorse Liberation, we rescue horses from the slaughter pipeline and provide free equine-assisted services to veterans and first responders. We also run a free garden program—offering monthly gardening classes, seeds, plants, and fresh produce to support mental and physical health in our local community.

If you believe in second chances—for horses and humans—follow along and share our mission. It helps more than you know.

Can we just take a second to appreciate how BIG Skippy has gotten?!

It feels like yesterday he was a wobbly little c**t needing constant care.
Now he’s turning into a full-blown goofball teenager—wild, confident, and impossible not to love.

He was born right here at Warhorse.
He’s grown up knowing only kindness, safety, and a whole lot of snacks.

And every single milestone he hits reminds us why this work matters.

From the first halter to his first buck—Skippy’s story is only just beginning.

Thank you for being part of it.
This is what rescue done right looks like.
This is what growing up loved looks like.

Ruby’s spicy side made a surprise appearance today.
And then the camera came out… and she said “Never mind.”

It’s been a whirlwind lately. Life’s been heavy.
America’s needed daily first aid, and honestly—I’ve been overwhelmed.

But Ruby? She reminded me why I keep going.
One powerful stop. One flash of fire. One moment of joy in the chaos.

Because that’s the truth about rescue horses—they aren’t just healing, they’re teaching us to rise again.

Mental health isn’t just a box you check when things go wrong—it’s how you build a life that doesn’t break you.

We’re all about slow healing and steady growth around here—for the horses and the humans.

Take one step today:
• Drink a full glass of water.
• Sit outside without your phone.
• Say no to something that drains you.
• Or just rest without guilt.

Every little habit adds up.
You don’t have to wait until you fall apart to start healing.

The boys are back in their extended paddock now that the grass has grown back in—and let’s just say they’re living their best lives.

Captain is recovering beautifully from his lameness.
Flint and Skippy? Growing like absolute weeds.

They ran out to greet the grass like it owed them money—and honestly, we get it.
Grateful to watch them thrive.

We call them the Golden Retriever Boys for a reason: loyal, goofy, affectionate, and always ready for their next adventure.
