As of 12/23/24, Critter Sitters of Bay City has officially closed its doors.
It has been my pleasure to serve this community, and to everyone I have met over the past 28 years, thank you for letting me care for some of your most prised family members. I will love and care about your pets almost* as much as you would, while you are away, and even when you are not.
*"Almost" because no one can love them quite the way you do.

With the 4th of July quickly approaching, we're bracing for the busiest week of the year when it comes to stray dogs. 😭
To help combat this, our friends at Mitten Mutts Dog Rescue are going to be offering FREE microchipping through the shelter next week, Monday June 30th - Thursday July 3rd. No appointment necessary, you can just visit the shelter office between 10am and 4pm. While this service is being offered for free, we will gladly accept donations for the rescue (monetary or supplies) ❤️
Microchips are one of the best ways for us to quickly reunite lost pets with their families, so get your pets chipped! 🐾

I came across this quote this morning, and thought it summed up the second chapter of my career, as a pet sitter, perfectly.
My career began in banking, where I worked hard to accomplish my goals, until my position, along with the entire accounting department, no longer existed locally. After much soul searching, and working other jobs, I landed on opening my own business - Critter Sitters of Bay City. The rest, as they say, is history. And now onto the next chapter 🥰

Our Story
April 1, 1997 - April 1, 2019
Wow, 22 years ago today, Critter Sitters of Bay City opened! A new chapter, a career in Professional Pet Sitting. A profession that wasn’t often recognized, nor preformed back in 1997, other than by family members, or neighbors.
After working in the banking industry for about 18 years; three of them at a bank in Caro, a 35 minute drive, making it impossible to come home and care for my own dog, Haley, on my lunch hour, so she was left with family each day. Then I adopted a second dog, a Dalmatian I named PJ, and now with two dogs, I was unable to drop both of them on family, but needed someone to come to my home. A bit of an inconvenience for family, or friends, on an on-going basis.
After leaving the bank in Caro, I started researching different home based businesses and came across a book written by a Professional Pet Sitter! Really? I could work from home, kind of, and be part of, what became, an up and coming industry--working with animals?! Really?! I knew I couldn’t be the only one who had their furry family members waiting at home each day, sometimes waiting 10 hours between potty breaks, and human contact. So between my own known and personal need, combined with my lifelong love of animals, it was a no brainer what my next occupation would be! Wa-la! Critter Sitters of Bay City was born, and as they say, the rest is history--22 years worth!
Many thanks to all of my wonderful clients, past, present and future! My life has been so much more enriched and purposeful, not to mention the oodles of unconditional love I receive each and every day--who wouldn’t want that?!
