BRAVO K911 : VIDEL’S STORY THUS FAR ….
Videl is a very loved 8 year old , indoor only , Seal Point,Snow Shoe, Balinese kitty. This for me , as a professional tracker , was really a high stress case that’s been eating at me for the past 36 hours. Here’s why I was feeling the pressure ….
Videl was thought to have gone missing around 5 pm on 10/5. No one saw her disappear ,but she was nowhere to be found . When the family started putting the pieces together , they realized she most likely was hiding in her favorite spot when the movers came in . Well that favorite spot is the couch and the same couch that the movers took 45 min away to a junk place. The family was on the phone as soon as they realized what may have happened , asking if they had spotted Videl at their facility . The next day they did get a call saying that an employee thinks he saw her right outside of the garage that the couch was in .
When owner , Matthew , got to the facility he left no stone or couch unturned. He set up cameras and food stations and traps . He also got some really bad news. The couch had left that facility already and gone to another junk yard in Durham NC, where it was put in some kind of crusher and was now like the size of a Coke can . Everyone was devastated.
They did have BRAVO, MAR Search Dog out on Day 6 . They were hoping against hope that Videl made it out of the couch before it left the facility and was hanging out between the storage units or by the big Day Care and Boarding facility . Bravo took scent in the storage unit first and had nothing . We then worked our way all around for about 30 min and just had nothing . Bravo gave me his NEGATIVE , NO SCENT here all around the buildings. There was indeed 2 other cats around the building , but Bravo definitely said they were not Videl . My conclusion was that Videl was indeed still In the couch when it left for the final junk yard or maybe , just maybe …. Videl got out of the couch AT HOME before being loaded Into the truck . The only way to know was to make the 45 minute drive back to their house and see if Bravo had any scent of Videl being outside of the house .
When we got to the house the owners were literally a nervous wreck . They had already been in mourning for 2 days and now Bravo was about to confirm their worst fears. I scented Bravo at their front door and he immediately took off . After about 10 steps I turned and yelled ,” Videl is not at the junk yard, she is here ! “ Then I just heard a lot of celebrating and thank you , thank you ! Bravo tracked Videl up and down a few streets before showing us all that he could . I have never seen a family so ecstatic , and motivated and ready to go . They had new life and new hope .
This is where I felt the pressure. What if I was wrong ? What if Bravo was wrong ? What if Videl was indeed 45 minutes away in that couch and I have given this family so much false hope. I think I had nightmares about it last night . I kept reminding myself as did others… TRUST YOUR DOG , he’s never let you down before…
Well at 12:00 am, as I’m camped out here in my car in Va on a case , I just got a text .. “We have a 100% sighting of Videl in the neighborhood and I saw him too !” OMG ! IM SO EXCITED and relieved !!!! Now to get Mizz Videl trapped and home where she belongs ! Paws 🐾 crossed for a happy ending to an amazing story and awesome tracking by Bravo ❤️🐾❤️
