The time has come.

Since July 2017, my friends, my son, and I have collectively helped about 500 cats & kittens get socialized, vetted, and adopted. Additionally, we have TNR’d about 150 community cats and have helped humans-of-cats get their babies vetted, fixed, & medically cared for. Our numbers top 692 to date. We have also contributed to multiple fundraisers, to those who have needed help with their own colonies, as well as assisting with colonies in our own community.

However, the time has come to take a step back – people in rescue immediately say “You’ll be back” “You can’t step away forever!” and things of the like. They are not wrong – our hearts to do good do not change. However, the needs of my family come first and I promised my son I would step back, something I have not done in the past.

Rescue is not for the faint of heart – emotionally, mentally, or financially. I was able to do more bc of the assistance & support of my personal tribe & definitely all of you. It was encouraging and kept me going.

At this time, I am shutting down KSO effective immediately.

I will be eternally grateful for everyone who helped us be as successful as we were. We’ve done so much good but now it’s time to focus on my family and personal goals I have put off for the sake of rescue.

Thank you for everything!

Spring time rant!

Know what these are?
Ya you know, those small fuzzy things that just “showed up” in your back yard.

Except you’ve been feeding a stray cat for a month and not trying to get them fixed! You know exactly what these are and where they came from.

You couldn’t be bothered to fix mom until THESE appeared. Now your fire calling anyone you can to come “deal with it”

Well unfortunately now that a simple tnr situation has turned into a life or death situation (most likely death) it’s not as easy a fix.

There aren’t enough fosters in spring for hundreds of stray or feral moms to be housed for 8 weeks with their litters. Those litters will at some point require bottle feeding and it’s not a feasible request.

So….. you get mad. You shout that it’s not your problem. You refuse to do any legwork to find a foster, you refuse tnr because there’s kittens (who will die)
Even though this was a preventable situation.

WHEN YOU SEE A STRAY CAT DON'T WAIT TO CONTACT HELP

We understand sometimes a litter is born in your bush and you never saw a cat before then and that's OK but here is a link to a program that will empower you to self rescue your yard litter AND mom

A couple years ago, we responded to a post for cats & kittens left in a couple carriers in front of a local pup rescue/training center, Happy Trails Animal Rescue.

One of the younger babes from that group, we named Shadow. He had this beautiful coat that wasn’t quite black but had unique grey/white undertones, giving him a smokey look.

We were lucky & received an update tonight. He has grown into one handsome chap! He would be just about 2-2.5yo now.

We absolutely love hearing from our past adopters & seeing our kittens thriving! ❤️❤️

Who needs a Buckle in your life? This boy is so chill almost of the time - he does still have kitten energy in the right company but for the most part, he’s laidback. He’s been sleeping on my should for like 20mins.. just chilling with me.

He’s a year old, UTD on shots, neutered, chipped. HMU if you want to know more.

*Potential homes will be vetted and he has an adoption fee*.
