We’ve recently had an influx of last minute requests for boarding or daycare and we want to ensure that you are able to attend to what you need to, when you need to, while also ensuring your dog has a happy and healthy stay away from home.
Here is a reminder on our requirements to become a new client and the “whys” behind what we ask for. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or to start the new client registration process.
Vaccines:
* Rabies - this vaccine is a NYS requirement for any dog over 4 months of age.
* Distemper - This is crucial because canine distemper is a highly contagious and often fatal viral disease that affects a dog's respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. There is currently no cure available.
* Bordetella - This vaccine is required every six months because immunity from the vaccine for the bacteria that causes kennel cough, wanes after that period.
Dog daycare and boarding facilities are
high-risk environments for the spread of kennel cough because dogs are in close contact with many other dogs, increasing exposure to the bacteria.
It is industry standard that reputable boarding and daycare facilities require dogs to be vaccinated every six months as part of their policy for maintaining a healthy environment and preventing outbreaks.
Please note, if your dog’s bordetella vaccine has expired or if they are receiving this vaccine for the first time, we require a 14 day waiting period before a boarding or daycare stay to ensure optimal protection.
Meet & Greet / Behavioral Assessment
The level of care that we provide is very hands on and interactive, so an industry standard behavioral assessment is crucial for ensuring safety for both myself and your dog, comfort by assessing a dog's suitability for the environment, and effective care by allowing us to tailor care to a dog's individual needs and stress levels. By understanding a dog's temperament, we can prevent injuries, create a less stressful experience for the dog, and ultimately provide a higher quality of care, ensuring your dog has an enjoyable stay and you don’t have to worry about them while you are away.
