I found kittens! Now what?
We hear it all the time: “The shelters and rescues are full!” And the truth is… they really are. But here’s the thing: when you find kittens, the first step isn’t to scoop them up and drop them at a shelter.
Step 1: Find Mom.
She needs to be spayed so the cycle ends. If you take the kittens and leave mom, she’ll be back in just a couple of months with another litter. Getting the kittens to safety is wonderful, but stopping the cycle is just as important.
Step 2: Bring the kittens inside if they’re in danger.
Now they’re safe—but what next? You call a rescue or shelter, only to be told they’re full. It’s frustrating, and many people give up at this point.
But here’s the reality: rescues are “full” because every foster home is already at capacity. The solution? Offer to foster.
When someone tells us they’re willing to foster, it’s music to our ears. You’re not just dropping off a problem—you’re part of the solution. And the best part? We can often help with supplies, food, and support, so you’re not doing it alone.
And don’t worry—you won’t be “stuck” with kittens. We work hard to find every kitten a loving forever home, so fostering is simply a temporary step on their journey.
Fostering is one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference. Instead of just wishing someone would help, you become the hero—for those kittens and the mom cat too.
