I took Oro on his first trail ride the other day, and I was so impressed with him! Not only did he haul quieter than most trained horses I’ve hauled, but he was willing and calm the entire ride. He’s going to make such an awesome trail horse for whoever buys him!

We had a great day roping at Whispering Meadows Equestrian Center yesterday! I got Oro out when we were clearing tags off the cattle post-competition and did ground work off him. He wasn’t fazed by the steer on the ground in front of him, and handled all the goings-on really well! We also helped hold rodear while others were roping.

Oro had his first farrier appointment today and he did great - all the time spent messing with his feet paid off!

I started tracking cattle with Oro and he took to it immediately! He was interested from the start and quickly learned to pace with the cattle.

The first day working on trailer loading was an absolute success! I had Oro put his front feet in the trailer a couple times, and when I stepped in and asked for another step he got right in and stood calmly. I’m really impressed with his willingness and trust, and I’ll be loading him a few more times before taking him on the first trailer ride!

I’ve been slacking on the posts but Oro’s coming along! I’ve started throwing ropes off him and am continuing working the trail course.

It’s about time Oro earned his keep around here! We fixed some fences in the trail course and I introduced him to all the obstacles. He’s becoming such a willing partner, and readily crossed each obstacle we came to!

Oro’s learning to tie! We built a patience pole with a rotating collar up top to help the mustangs learn to stand patiently.

Yesterday was a big day for Oro - put the first ride on him! After all the preparation he accepted it real easy. From here on we’ll be working on getting him moving out better, but so far so good!

Oro got saddled for the first time! All the groundwork and preparation paid off - he accepted it easily and with very little drama.

I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Bryan Neubert this weekend, and for his help with Oro! I learned to reward and release for the smallest steps at the beginning so that Oro will be more and more willing to try, and he helped me sit on Oro for the first time!
