Primo (formally Deridder's street dog, "Park dog" or "Walmart dog") is looking for a home to call his own. He went from malnourished, full of worms, and terrified of humans to a healthy, thick boy with so much joy. He no longer searches for a way out and shows us daily he found safety in a home instead. Primo has gone through a good bit of training and has a strong foundation of obedience. He absolutely loves to run and explore. Lucky for him, he is finally off-leash and able to run the speed we could only dream of running.

Best Pals has sponsored Primo's needs, both medically and behaviorally, making sure he has every opportunity of success. ✔ 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 – Find what motivates your dog the most! This could be special treats, a favorite toy, or even playtime.

✔ 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – Start training in a quiet environment before gradually introducing more distractions.

✔ 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 & 𝐅𝐮𝐧 – Dogs learn best in short bursts! Aim for 5-10 minute sessions to maintain engagement.

✔ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 – Avoid training when your dog is too tired (after intense play or a big meal) or too excited (right after waking up or when full of energy). If they’re too hyper, a short walk or play session can help them settle down before training.
