Over the weekend, the families who placed deposits had the opportunity to come meet and select their puppies.

Congratulations to the Pink family on choosing the blue collar male, now officially named Orion!

Congratulations as well to the Hribar family on choosing the gray collar male, now officially named Kobar!

The red collar sable female will be staying here at Vermächtnis as a potential future breeding prospect and will also be trained for tracking deer blood. We are excited to watch her continue to grow and develop.

The puppies had their 6 week vet checkup today! Everyone received a clean bill of health and is growing exactly as we hoped. They each received their first vaccines and were microchipped as we continue preparing them for their next adventures.

I didn’t get many photos from today as there was a lot happening, but I’m so proud of how well all of the puppies handled their first visit!

Raising well-rounded German Shepherds means more than just good genetics — it requires intentional development from the very beginning. Controlled sound exposure helps puppies learn that unfamiliar things don’t need to be scary. They were briefly surprised, then quickly bounced back and chose curiosity over uncertainty — exactly the response we hope to see.

After some pretty intense storms rolled through last night, we’ve been without power for nearly 14 hours and unknown when it’ll be back on. Through all the thunder, wind, and disruption, these puppies never missed a beat.

They happily explored outside later in the evening, completely unfazed by the wet grass or even the loud generator running nearby. Moments like these are exactly why early exposure and confidence building matter — very proud of these stable, resilient little pups.

Big half sister Britta has officially become part of the puppy socialization team! The puppies are learning appropriate canine communication, confidence, and boundaries while having plenty of fun along the way. Having a stable young adult dog like Britta for them to grow up around them is invaluable.
