This page is designed to allow you to post a lost or found dog or cat in the Tyler area. We will share your post so that it reaches a crowd but everything you post will be shared. Please be mindful that not everyone is honest if you found the dog please make the owner provides proof such as photos of them with the dog, vet records that tell the dogs name s*x breed and color, and make sure to leave
out a detail in the dog such as s*x, scaring, spayed/neutered, docked ears or tail ect so that you can make sure that the dog is returned to the rightful owners. IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT ANY PART OF THIS PROCESS PLEASE SEND US A MESSAGE WE WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOU. There are surprisingly a lot of people out there that are looking for "bait dogs"
There are a number of different ways to locate the owners of a found pet:
First and most importantly take the dog to a vet or shelter and have the animal scanned for a microchip if the dog has one you have instantly found the rightful owner. However, sometimes the chip is tied to a shelter or rescue which they will have the info to get in touch with them and then they will track down who adopted the animal. Contact your local animal control in case someone calls them looking for the dog. Most of them you can email a picture as well as where the dog was found. (See list below)
The "old-school" way of hanging signs in the area the dog was found 10-20 signs has worked the best for me! If the dog wasn't dumped this has been the ONLY method that worked for the last 10 dogs we have found! I know it seems odd but it works TRUST ME!! Please keep in mind if you have found a dog and do not have any way to help them and you are going to call animal control please be mindful that all the shelters listed above are "Kill" shelter which means they will "put a dog to sleep" for space. If you have tried to find the owner unsuccessfully and you can't keep the dog or know anyone that can help you will need to contact a local rescue for help. Many of them can help especially if you can foster the pet. If you don't know where to turn please contact us for options we can help point you in the right direction.
