“But I’m fine…”

How many of us have said that?

Fine. Managing. Coping. Just tired. Just stressed. Just busy.

Meanwhile the words underneath tell a different story.

Broken.
Exhausted.
Ashamed.
Alone.
Not enough.

Sometimes “I’m fine” is protection.

It’s the mask. The armour. The socially acceptable answer.

Because saying, “I’m struggling.” “I’m not okay.” “I don’t know how to cope.” feels terrifying.

We live in a world that praises resilience but doesn’t always make space for vulnerability.

So we swallow it. We minimise it. We joke about it. We carry it quietly.

But here’s the truth:

You are not weak for struggling. You are not dramatic for feeling. You are not attention-seeking for needing support. You are not broken beyond repair.

And you are not the words that were thrown at you.

“I’m fine” might have kept you safe once.

But you deserve spaces where you don’t have to be fine.

Where you can say, “This is heavy.” “This hurts.” “I need help.”

And someone answers with, “I’m here.”

If this image feels close to home — please don’t carry it alone.

Reach out. To a friend. To a professional. To someone safe.

You are allowed support. You are allowed softness. You are allowed to not be fine.

And still be worthy.

🤍

As we work with our horses on Equine Therapeutic exercises thatll be useful for our veteran program, we're discovering the profound impact it has on our own personal growth and relationships with our herd. The next time you're with your horse, try this simple yet powerful technique. It's remarkable to see how it can transform stressed, behaviorally challenging horses into calm and gentle companions and brings you to a more calming state of mind. It all begins with you and your internal state. Before asking your horse to do anything, take a moment to breathe fully out, letting go of all tension. As you exhale, allow your body to relax, your heart rate to slow, and your mind to focus on calm, peaceful thoughts. Then, take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, hold it briefly, and exhale fully. By incorporating this practice into your interactions with your horse, you'll likely find it to be an incredibly effective way to create a deeper sense of trust and calm. Horses respond positively to this energy, and it can be a powerful reward for them. By regulating your own nervous system, you'll help your horse feel safer and more at ease. The result is often a more willing and calm horse that genuinely enjoys your company because you help them feel secure. Give it a try and discover the positive impact it can have on your relationship with your horse and let me know how it feels 🥰🙏🏻

It's thrilling to witness our Reining for Freedom equine therapy veteran program nearing its purpose. We've been working tirelessly to integrate all components into something exceptional. Mandy Fleming Photography captured the final photos for our website update, which is now live and undergoing refinements. This program will provide invaluable support to veterans struggling with PTSD, and our horses are being trained daily to ensure they are prepared to assist. Obtaining our 501(c)(3) status has been a significant blessing for us 🥰. Please visit our website at www.angeltrailranch.com.

The Calming Presence of Horses
These gentle giants have large, rhythmic hearts that help to promote a sense of peace and relaxation in those around them. Spending time with horses can lower stress levels and reduce anxiety, offering a serene environment where Veterans can reconnect with themselves.

A horse only shares their breath with someone they trust. This moment is about bond, consent, softness, and connection — the quiet way horses communicate when words don't work. When a horse leans in, exhales with you, and matches your rhythm, it's their version of saying I feel safe here.I filmed this to capture the subtle, powerful language of horses - how they mirror energy, recognize calm intention, and invite you into their space. Little moments like this are the foundation of real horsemanship.

We are so thankful for the tremendous support during this time. All of the support has just touched our hearts and we cannot even express all of our gratitude.
From all the gofundme donations, those who have sent supplies from our Amazon list, neighbors who have helped us with water for our horses, the prayer warriors that kept praying for us and the family/friends who have just listened and talked to us..thank you.
I got to come back to work Monday and the company I work at got us set up with a working generator (we had a generator that decided, after being hit by the hurricane/tornado, not to work) so now we have electricity and water. Amber got the well tank leaks fixed and back upright, so there is water for the horses and to our homes from our well.
God has blessed us so much during this time.

Have a very Happy and Safe Independence Day today. Let us remember those that help to protect our freedom and independence and reflect on the true meaning of liberty.
