A few weeks ago, the shelter took in 83 cats from an unsafe hoarding situation. They were varying ages but many were under or not very socialized. After evaluating all the cats, these ones are the most outwardly aggressive towards staff and will not be able to be placed up for public adoption. Unfortunately in cases like this, the cats grow up in environments where they get no socialization and when they come into the shelter, their mental state is further compromised and their quality of life is poor. They are already altered, vaccinated and microchipped, however, they have lived their entire lives indoors and are NOT candidates for barn or outdoor colony placement. They need a rescue(s) willing to work with them one on one on their behavior by March 21st, 4:00 pm.

Note: the shelter does have many more cats from this same group that can be adopted out to private party homes. If you're interested in adopting and willing to help an under socialized cat, please contact the shelter or come into the shelter from 2 pm to 5 pm daily to meet them.

Duke was reported to have been attacked by dogs before coming to the shelter. Upon his arrival he was lethargic. He has a fractured mandible among other injuries. He is currently on pain medication and supportive care. He is nervous but allows handling once he warms up to you. He may need surgery but would do best having a surgical consult to then determine the best treatment plan for him. He will lick his wet food but will eat dry food well. He doesn't currently have a deadline, but does meet retention on March 15th. He'll most likely need rescue by that time.

As soon as the finder saw this cat's condition, they brought her to the shelter. This cat arrived emaciated, dehydrated, with an oral mass, dental calculus, and with ocular discharge. She is geriatric and she sounds congested but that does not stop her from wanting to get attention and pets! This sweet girl is also having difficulty eating likely due to the mass in her mouth. She is on supportive care and is being given food that may be easier for her to consume, but she will need more help and diagnostics than the shelter can provide. This sweet senior needs rescue commitment by tomorrow, March 13th, 4:00 pm.

📢 3.9.23, 11 am: Unfortunately, one of the kittens was sadly found deceased in its kennel this morning. A panleuk test was done post-mortem and the test was positive. The remaining family members are now considered exposed if not positive themselves. They are still in need of rescue if there's a group that can properly quarantine and treat

These two adult female and five kittens were reported to be found at the side of the finder's house. They noticed that they were vomiting and two of the kittens had deformities so they were brought to the shelter. Upon arrival, they all were positive for ringworm except for one of the adults who has been directly exposed. The kittens are not eating on their own and both females are lactating. The shelter paired the kittens with who they suspect are their moms. The two adults are scared; they will freeze and will avoid being touched or handled. Some of the kittens are nervous and will try to hide, the others are friendly and will come up for pets. Everyone will need a rescue who can help them by the time the adults meet retention on March 9th, 4:00 pm.

This cat was reported to have been hit by a car and dragging itself. He was taken to an emergency clinic where he was treated for a wound on his back before coming to the shelter. Since his arrival, he has been nervous and will try to find ways to get away from staff despite being unable to use his hind legs. He is eating well and can move around using his front legs, and he does leave urine in his kennel, however, shelter veterinary staff suspects that he is not able to control his bladder. The skin around his wound is also started to slough off. He will need a rescue who can help him come out of his shell, and who can get him further diagnostics. He needs rescue commitment no later than Wednesday, March 6th, 4:00 pm.

Hi there! It's been a while since we posted so we figured why not throw a curveball and post a different type of 4-legged friend in need.

Kara was adopted from the shelter as a young dog and came back as a stray last June. The shelter has tried very hard to find her a home and she has spent many wonderful days with foster caregivers. She has been at the shelter waiting for her forever home. This morning she was having some difficulty breathing and was having trouble when staff member tried to take her for a walk. She was immediately taken to the shelter veterinarian for an exam. Sadly it has been determined that she has a large mass and that it has already spread to her lungs. The shelter vetdoes not want her to be suffering at the shelter, but if we can find a rescues wanting to hospice her for a little longer so she can have some great days we would love to see her have that chance. When she relaxes she gets more comfortable. She is not critical at this time, but there is concern the mass could rupture. This sweet girl needs rescue by 5 pm today.

These five kittens came to the shelter with URI. They were placed in a foster home where they could gain weight and were treated. They returned for an exam and Orion is positive for ringworm. The rest of the kittens are not, but have been directly exposed. The foster cannot not take them back into their care at this time. Otis came to the shelter on a special hold. Once he was made available it did not take long for this sweet boy to be adopted. He was surrendered however when he was diagnosed with ringworm and the owner could not keep up with his care. This sweet boy deserves better. Betty had given birth to kittens but after 4 weeks, she was no longer caring for them, was not eating and was lethargic. The kittens found placement and mom was started on treatment. She started to feel better and was prepared for adoption. She is a sweet cat and enjoys attention but she does time out quickly. She has bit twice since being at the shelter. The first time she bit staff when they were cleaning her kennel leaving punctures and scratches on their forearm above their wrist. The second time she bit a potential adopter as they were petting her- leaving 3 punctures on their right pointer finger and knuckle. Due to her temperament, she will need a rescue who can help her by the end of her quarantine, January 3rd 4:00 pm.

Jingle was in a foster home and when she returned for adoption she was noted to have some hair loss. She was positive for ringworm. She has a history of URI which has resolved at this time. This sweet girl has received her initial vaccines, is altered and really just needs a rescue to continue her ringworm treatment - then she's fully ready to be adopted! Gideon and his littermates (A1848789 Sultan, A1848790 Ambrose, and A1848791 Milton) were found in a mobile home park. It took the finder a few days to get them and bring them to the shelter as they noticed they were sick. All four of them have URI and need socialization, however, Gideon needs the most help. He is the runt of the litter weighing less than a pound and allowed the least amount of handling (he's the tiny guy running to hide behind the kitty house in the video). Although Gideon's littermates don't have a deadline at this time, a rescue can pull them all together if they have the bandwidth. Otherwise, Gideon is most in need and needs a rescue willing to work on his behavior and help him gain the weight back. He needs rescue commitment no later than January 2nd, 4:00 pm.

Roxy was reported to have been limping and with scratches on her face when she was found outside of the finder's home. She did not allow them to approach her at first, but then warmed up to them. She was brought to the shelter for her injuries. When she arrived, she was toe touching her left front leg and while she was friendly at first, she did not allow handling. Staff has been trying to work with her, but she has some abnormal concerns. She has been noted to twitch, circled around, and her eyes are always dilated (she may be visually impaired). She also may be having seizures as she will have urine and f***s on the walls of her kennel and can be found laying in her wet. She will come up to the front of her kennel and chirp for attention, but once staff opens the door and try to handle her, she becomes aggressive. This special girl needs a quiet environment with someone willing to get her the medical attention she needs while also promoting better behavior. She needs rescue commitment no later than December 30th, 4:00 pm.

This cat was found with what the finder thought was an injury to its ear. He arrived at the shelter and he is a friendly boy, but when he does not want to be handled anymore he will let you know. He loves to get pets around his head. His right ear is ulcerated and we suspect it may be cancerous. He will need further diagnostics and more advanced treatment than the shelter can provide. T'Challa was surrendered to the shelter when his owner could no long provide the care that he needed. He has a history of UTI's, currently has blood in his urine and is straining. He also has a heart murmur. He is a little nervous at first, but once he comes out of his shell, he is a very sweet cat. Claus was found by himself at an apartment complex. The finder reported he looked unwell and very thin. He is a sweet boy who loves to get pets and was very excited to eat when he arrived at the shelter. He has a grade 4/6 heart murmur, is underconditioned, and missing teeth. He was being treated for URI, but that has resolve. He needs someone who can help him gain a healthy amount of weight, feel better, and live out his golden years.
